Moderator Froggy the Great Posted July 28, 2005 Moderator Share Posted July 28, 2005 All these were converted from DHL skeletal spearmen. Add silly hats, trousers, and decking, and they work right heartily for crew of the Dark Maiden. I blatantly stole the idea for this from Sergei. He has my gratitude. Rastl
Skellies! Gotta love those hats and pants! They're a little too yellow for you to have used the bone triad? Or is my monitor off again? Nice work - very crisp and clean!
Sergei
Those look great!! I think you may have outdone me. I love the hats, did you make them from green stuff, My tri corner hats always frustrate the heck out of me. Your's look so good they could have been run off an assembly line. It's good to know my humble figs inspired your great looking ones. Looking forward to the rest of yours.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted July 28, 2005 Author Moderator Share Posted July 28, 2005 All the conversion was done with greenstuff. Making the hat is actually really easy. Take a blob of putty about half the diameter of a pea, and squish it out into a disc. Smush it onto the skelly's head, tool up a headband if you want, and then just bend the disc up at the 10, 2, and 6 o'clock positions. If you look carefully, you'll probably still be able to see my fingerprints in them.

billr
You've got some nice wood going on there fella. How did you do the wood?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted July 29, 2005 Author Moderator Share Posted July 29, 2005 The planks were brown liner, drybrushed with chestnut and something like palamino gold. The spears were primed white, then washed with brown liner thinned down something like 3:1 with gunk: paint.
