Minis We'd like to see

Recommended Posts

More characters with obscurely fashioned armor and weapons would be nice, example; armor with cristal clusters on shoulders, axe with completely round blade. Something that has never been seen on a miniature before.

Other races i would like to see include; argonians(reptile people from the game Morrowind), Tiefling(with small horns or daemonic features), Sahuagin(fish people), Satyr, Dryad, and Genasi(with features of the elements like swirling or flaming hair) how cool would that be...

The real question would be WHAT KIND of Arthurian minis? I'd predicably prefer minis based on Romano-britons, rather than MORE plate armored guys (been done).

I think the GW unarmored (bretonnian) plastic horse would already work well for a draft animal; most draft horses were larger than either riding horses or war horses (and it's just wearing a blanket).

Damon.

The Anhurians, being based on dark age normans could be a great fit for arthurian men at arms.. as the name might hint :)

But I second the late-roman notion of arthurians as well. :)

I'd love to see some Robin Hood inspired models - and if you had to use a TV/Film Reference you could do alot worse than the old BBC Robin of Sherwood series.

Yes - and fat monks in robes. :) Not the chinese style either. Nope.. fat drunk european monks. And maybe a priest that looks strikingly like Father Jack Hackett

Edit: See.. I keep thinking of these.. I'd also love to see some chinese influenced characters too, especially the early to medieval periods - with the half shaved heads and long braided hair. Or characters influenced by chiense opera costumes and japanese kabuki.

roman soldiers centurions mounted and unmounted, praetorian guard, mounted and unmouted horse archers. warriors with other weapon types such as javelin and short sword, long spear and shield these could be romanish or european.

armored mage/clerics always like the cover of She is the Darkness by Glen Cook.

I'd really like to see some NICE bard figures. Seems like most the figures out there are men just standing around holding a lute. I'd like to see a variety of instruments, flutes, lyres, mandolin, lap dulcimer, recorders, and more female minis as well. I think a woman that looks slightly windswept, playing a bamboo flute would be really nice.

Anyhoo... Just my two cents.

Just to expand on the previous post...

I'd like to see some bards actually playing an instrument, rather than just having one strapped to their back and a light sword and dagger in their hands.

No need for a Broadway chorus line, or guitar god...

Either standing with knee up on a stump, stool or boulder just sort of crooning or weaving an enchantment with their instrument of choice - mandolin or harp would be cool. Maybe a flute/recorder/woodwind or something for a Pied Piper style.

Or sitting on a rock playing an instrument.

Maybe some non human bards too would be useful - Orcs and goblinoids with drums. Armored squire with brass horn. Dwarves with drums or ram horn. Maybe a halfling with his lips pursed whistling or playing some sort of pan pipe.

How about some bird-men? Not winged people, but something like the Aaracokra. Maybe similar to the old Pazuzu model, but less eldritch.

The Bakarathi Hunter warms me to the cockles of my heart (since I can use them as duthka'gith). I'd like to see some in heavier armor to go with the Astral Reavers (since the duthka'gith a re pretty much githyanki half-dragons.)

Before I forget, we REALLY need a dwarven cleric based on Travis' artwork.

Pretty pretty please!

oh hell yes!!! and his main character, Torrik; the badaxx (well, bad-hammer actually) dwarf dragonslayer with the huge maul made from a dragon horn/bone that adorns his website. cjeck it out, and all of his concept art. youll recognize some as recently (or soon to be) released miniatures. youve been warned.

Here here, bards sound very cool indeed, espessially ones of different races. I'll second the idea of a Satyr playing pipes and also wouldn't mind seeing something rather unexpected - a kobold with lute (Deekin), or a half troglodyte human playing an oboe or something really weird like that.

And i know it might sound rather strange, but i'd like to see a few (not many) characers with a smile on their faces - even if its a wicked half grin for an evil guy.

Cheers, from Mike.

One thing I've allways wanted to see is a warrior that has just survived a harsh battle and has a sort of relieved "Phew, we survived this time to" smile in his face. Also I'd love to see more warriors (or other characters) expressing the horror of war. Sort of "E.M Remarque meets fantasy" but maybe that's just me.

All in all a greater variety of expressions would be nice. Maybe a griefstricken character? A panicking character? A slightly deranged character? A slightly fearful character? There are a wide wide range of expressions out there.

the only sculptors ive seen who regularly achieve this are bobby jackson and jim johnson. especially bobby's newer stuff-check out thora necromancer, ansel paladin of laris and kasadya demon, all in the 2900 series. they all have very expressive faces, from thoras wicked just-animated-your-mother's-corpse grin and the kasadyas smile of genuine demonic mischieviousness to ansels frown of stern disapproval at some evil doers evildoingness.

coincidence that they are all representations of trav's concepts?

(talins gonna think i hate him they way i tout trav's art so much, but truth is talin doesn't need much "touting"-his work has enough history and stunning representation to speak for itself. trav's the new guy, and i like the way he is pushing the limits of our beloved sculptors)

this has been another mourningcloud dissertation wherein i have said, as usual, too much.

oh yeah, and a mini id like to see:

Taking a page from magnificent egos book, how about some representations of non-character/monster stuff we see in D&D (for you non gamers out there who are groaning, sorry but the majority of reapers repeat buyers are D&D players. and i think you might like this stuff too)

For example: the three magical goat figurines that come to life (you could call them "The Three Ebony Goats", as opposed to Three Ivory Goats.) they would be three very different animals. the goats are: goat of travel: normal sized goat capable of being ridden like a heavy warhorse, goat of terror: a scary looking warhorse sized goat with one horn like a lance and one like a sword, and the dreaded goat of travail: an enormous goat larger than a bull with wicked impaling horns that gets up and kicks some booty. also would make great characters for a three-billy goats gruff diorama. now all we need is a troll....
