WintersRainne
Suggestions wanted: After a no painting spell of about 6-7 months - I have started working on stuff again - namely a fire elemental I started about 9 months ago... I followed true fire work - lighter in the crevices and darker towards the tips - but something isn't right?? Too dark? His yellow is a bit brighter than in the pics but at least you get some ideas.... What do you think...???? Lisa Edited: Photoshop'd to remove a bit of the purple tinge to the photos - this is much closer...
Nikmal
I think that it looks awesome!! To make the yellow not so bright you might want to take a wash of oarnge over it.. a really light oarnge. it might tone it down some if that is the case.. if not keep it the way it is.. I would be proud to have that as a fire elemental at my game table! :)

hater dave
It looks alive! I like it. You have inspired me to finish my elemetal I purchased about 10 yrs ago.
Niloc
Very cool WintersRainne ... does look alive :-) I read a article on lava bases somewhere (I think on CMON, but don't quote me on it.), and it was mensioned that using neon paints really make it pop. Just a thought. Well painted. Thanks for sharing :-)
CuCulain42
I think it looks good as is, sometimes we are our own worst critics. Im not sure that lava base tutorial was CMoN, I read one here at work(CMon is blocked) so there is at least one not on CMoN.
WintersRainne
Thanks everyone for your comments so far - I havn't even started his base but it will either be a lava base which I have seen a few great ideas around for - or have him inside a firey summoning circle on a cobblestone floor - not sure - still have to finish him.... Looking at him now I think it is that he is too dark - maybe I need to bring the yellow/light orange out more....what do you think?
Orsino
I'm seeing a bit of the LotR Balrog in this figure. Great contrast!
Enchantra
He looks awesome. The only suggestion is to highlight the darkened tips of the flames a bit so they show up better. Otherwise it looks amazing!
WitchyWolf
What a great comeback! Very rich coloring. It almost looks like he will burst given the high contrast between the yellow and the tips. Almost like magma that is starting to crust over. I really like the effect though, as it looks very hot and very dangerous. The PC in me cringes and reaches for a potion of fire resistance. Warden54
That looks good! The contrast is really nice. My only suggestion is in with Enchantra's, maybe lighten the darker tips of the flames (maybe with a medium red or a dark-ish orange). WintersRainne
Thanks guys - I think you're right - I think he needs to be lightened up a bit - I'll work on him tonight and see how I go....
LordColdsteal
wow... can I borrow that? I wanna make some smores... very nice work
Jabberwocky
I like it...I like it a lot. I think it looks pretty darn good as is, but he looks more like a magma monster as Witchywolf mentioned--a lava beastie cooling a bit as he walks. Highlighting the tip should give him more of a "firey" look. Does that make sense?
Prophet
The fire looks like it is actually moving. Very nice work. Prophet
