cristomeyers
The People of the Desert Wind sublist is awesome. But you're going to be outnumbered almost two to one in most games.
spiritual_exorcist
Last of the Datacards up at Reapergames! Sokar's Avatar has Swing Through!!! Pretty close to a Hill Giant in statistics as well. The Sphinx might see a limited amount of use if you are willing to put something on it to boost it's CP, but I don't find it that impressive. Khathan on the otherhad is pretty impressive. Critical shot with a ranged attack of 24 makes for a pretty wicked model. She reminds me alot of Lurgh, but with enough differences to make her unique. cristomeyers
Can't see myself using the Sphinx. I don't need a mage that badly.
ecs05norway
I think the only spells I'd give the Sphinx is two Dispels and two Bandages.
Storminator
I think the only spells I'd give the Sphinx is two Dispels and two Bandages. ?!? Considering that it has no Defensive Magic or Cleric, wouldn't those be wasted? It looks like a great unit for summoning a Dust Devil. With the speed you can get where you need to be and then unleash the DD. The Sphinx looks exactly like the kind of model you don't like ECS. Too much fighter in your mage and vice versa. ecs05norway
Yeah. Mrf. Tried a slight variation on my usual army at the BURPonomicon tournament. Ended up losing to Razig w/ 6 Soul Cannons, edging out a loss to Dwarves because I was a quarter-inch too far to charge and finish off his bear-rider with a Dervish, and beat Reven. Troop 1: Lord Khadath Fatima (LMA, DF, Hold, 3x Bandage, 2x Bless) 5x Tomb Guard 2x Khamsin Ranger Troop 2: Anwar 5x Khamsin Dervish 2x Anubis Guard 2x Khamsin Mounted Archer Troop 3: Walking Avatar Fairly impressed by this combination; going to continue trying it and see how things go. VERY impressed by the Mounted Archers' performance.
RazorBlade
Oh jeez, yeah mounted archers are something I was REALLY scared of months back. The idea of rock paper stuff is out the window. Grunts will not always beat calvary, you can now shoot and remain out of charging range, move and shoot again. This is just crazy. But I am ignoring the calvary for now, with the other new units released I have my new nefsokar army ready to go. The sphinx is in at the 1500, but not 1000. I am even using the new thoth I got from this last tournament. I think I can find a use for him :) B Yeah. Mrf. Tried a slight variation on my usual army at the BURPonomicon tournament. Please do not belittle the 10 year old Dwarven player's victory(he is little but not A Dwarf.) These type of arguments and justifications could go on forever... Take the wins...take the losses. dewen
Khamsin 750 and 1000 point lists for critique: 750 PTS Troop 1: Ah'Radivh (uning Senet miniature) Atifa [bandage x2, Bless x2, Hold] Khamsin Lancer x1 Mounted Archers x5 Troop 2: Mi-Sher Dervishes x5 Total: 745 pts 1000 PTS Troop 1: Ah'Radivh w/Lesser magic weapon (using Senet miniature) Atifa [bandage x2, Bless x2, Hold] Khamsin Lancer x1 Mounted Archers x6 Troop 2: Mi-Sher Dervishes x5 Troop 3: Khathan w/Lesser Magic armor TOTAL: 999 pts IMHO For melee in Troop 1 Ah'Radivh and the Lancer are on there own. I would add some a Raider or two and reduce the Archers. The Dervishers are nice, but protect them from range attacks. I would drop a Bless and add another Bandage [745pts - 5pts (Bless) + 10pts (Bandage) = 750] I ran with a People of the Desert Wind Army. I liked having Ah'Radivh with Khamsin Archers and a couple Raiders (Troop 1) plus Atifa or Fatima. Fatima can't keep up but she also doesn't fail when casting on friendly. I used Anwar to lead another set of Raiders with a couple Lancers (Troop 2). Troop 2 hit hard and fast in melee with range support from Anwar. PROS - Range attacks in both troops (Anwar has Rng) - High Mov CONS - Almost all Cavary models, which can be expensive, and you may not have room for Khathan - Only 2 cards, unless you can squeeze in a solo I have not used Khathan so I can't comment. I love the sculpt and the stats. I will be trying her out soon.

Don't belittle your opponent's wins. Hell, I've no intention of belittle'ing him. I am not at all a bad player, and the fact that I had that close of a game shows that the kid has a pretty darn good clue what he's doing. Give him a few years' and he'll be scary-good. As for MMM's list... cavalry-heavy armies in 750... interesting. I agree, drop two of the mounted archers and toss in a couple of raiders. You need to scrape up 4 points to do so... and taking Mi-Sher without either Divine Favor or Armor of some sort is just asking for trouble, IMHO. That 8 DV is problematic in what's meant to be a strong melee fighter. Trading her for Anwar saves you the 4 points you need, and gives you an extra ranged attack on a much harder to kill target. ElementsWarden
I would remove the hold. For the 25 points and only a 50/50 shot or worse, I think the points for the previously mentioned raider and add a Divine favor or armor like esc05 said would be better. It's a hard decision for me. It's not going to be as effective as it is with Fatima casting it, true, but it's often a key in dealing with big nasties. I find it makes problem-children like Khong-To much easier to handle. On the other hand, with a 5 CP, you'll need to roll 7+ to catch him, so it's definitely a risk. The question you'll have to ask is, a) are you likely to run up against a Tank in a 750 army? and b) do you trust your dice that much? :)

I love the sculpt and the stats. I will be trying her out soon. In both lists I would use Tariq and Anwar as my leaders (move Atifa to Tariq's troop, and drop the Bless spells). Since Anwar is a very good archer, you can afford to drop a couple Mounted Archers, and use the points to get a couple Raiders for the Lancer to ride with. And I would get a Herdsman or two to go with the Dervishes. Over all you end up with a few more models without losing much effectiveness. I've had some success with a single Lancer in with the Raiders. Raiders B2B a model for support for the Lancer, who First Strikes him. Since the group is highly mobile, you can keep moving about, stretching out the enemy's formations and picking off single grunts without reprisal.
