Has anyone used the new Crusader models ? I like most of the minis but a few , I reserve judgement .

Don't reserve Judgement. Use it every chance you get. :poke:

I'm sure I will be seeing many of the new models in play fairly soon at Sldrdude's.

I have seen the HoJ in play. That is truly one unpleasant beastie.

I had so much fun this weekend with mercy. mercy'd about 1/2 the grunts and the champion and the warlord of the darkspawn force. Box set vs. box set.

I'd never seen it so effective. I was totally impressed, and the darkspawn player was horrified.

Anyone know why Kristiana has 2 weapons but only one melee attack? Style?

Evilbob, a few months back, before Kristianna's data card was published, I believe someone in a position of authority said that she has "good melee skills," or something to that effect. I can't remember where exactly the post is, but you could probably dig it up if you search. She is a battle nun, so fluffwise, it would make sense for her to be good at close combat. Obviously, her melee skills are greatly inferior to those of a typical battle nun (#MA 1, MAV1) and not what I would descrbe as being "good." But, to me, that's ok, because with Innate: Holy Burst and Cleric 3/14, it's not likely that she'd be seeing much b2b combat anyway.

So, I'm guessing that originally, she was supposed to have beefier melee abilities (at least #MA 2, thus the two swords), but because of the other killer abilities that she has, her melee ability was reduced in order to lower her point cost. So, it would seem that the second sword is purely for coolness factor at this point, which does seem a little silly if you stop and analyze it -- but I'm willing to overlook it due to the coolness factor ::D:.

Your forgetting that her squire is carrying a third sword for her. I'm thinking that Lady K is the Imelda Marcos of swords.......

Castlebuilder

Nah, she's just employing the D&D 3.5 "golf bag theory", where you have a silver weapon, a cold iron weapon, and an adamantine weapon to deal with the vulnerabilities of different kinds of beasties...

So, I've bought the starter box Crusaders v. Necropolis and I'm totally new to this game. Here's my problem: I stink at strategy and tactics.

I'm the guy in our group who paints everything. I love painting and doing conversions, and building terrain/scenery, but I can field the best-looking army at the table (or if it's an RPG, the baddest monster v. the PCs), but the other guys will paste me with unpainted proxies.

It's dead embarassing, really.

So here's what I want. I want to get a good grasp of what works for other people. Here's the list of the Crusaders in the box:

Lord Ironraven

Halabarad

Unforgiven (9)

Starting with this (admittedly tiny) group of 600pts. What're my strengths & weaknesses? Especially versus Necropolis, which starts with:

Azarphan

Naomi

Skeletal Breakers (9)

Basically, I want to win against my friends so they'll feel challenged and maybe take an interest in the game. (And buy/paint their own darned minis! )
