Qwyksilver
And in fact, the rule was quoted on the first page of this thread. ** Slaps head ** DOH! Don't worry, I've done far worse on the boards with missing stuff like that, fortunately, I think a lot of them got eliminated with the archive wipe
Mydnight
Hey all, I've been away for a while, but I'm back now :) While my experience has been very limited with Warlord, I've found that using Judas doesn't get me as far as using Moandain. Its neat, when I get in closer for close combat, I just stand there, throw down drain life, let them come to me, and its dinner time :) As for the Crimson Knights, indeed they are they jewel of Thule. I don't have enough pieces in my Darkspawn army to play a large opposing game, yet, but I still think a strong unit composed of Lord Kentaur 3x Chattel 6x Crimson Knights 1x Dauron (optional) might actually be a pretty solid block of fightin ability. I'm having some trouble forming any other decent units though. I haven't tried the wraiths yet, but skeletons seem like roadbumps, put there to amuse and annoy my opponent. What's a good solid second unit to take? Oh, and Bone Horror or Grave Horror?
Lord Baasen
How does your troop fair in 1,500 point games Lord Baasen? I like to try to field Judas and spread 6 crimson knights out over two troops. Athak leading the other one. Of course my troops usually look something like: Judas Bloodspire Crimson Knight x3 Wraith Harvester x3 (gotta take advantage of that trencher) Chattel x2 Nivar or Sir Osric, depends on my opponent Athak Crimson Knight x3 Wraith Harvester x3 Chattel x3 Lots of points *edit*I think in the 780 range*edit* but it also puts alot on the field. This is also if I'm not building my troops for card efficency. Actually you've put together the army I most commonly used in testing the Necropolis. Good Job. If you have the points, drop in a Banshee and a Gargoyle. When you want to play a ranged game, swap out the 2 Chattels for Archers.
Lord Baasen
So how has the Gargoyle been working for all of you (yall ~ so Matt can understand me)?
Mydnight
So how has the Gargoyle been working for all of you (yall ~ so Matt can understand me)? I like the Gargoyle :) His low cost makes him a good asset for smaller armies, but his stats are versitile enough that you could throw him into a larger game and he'd be a good control factor (coup'de'grace, looting, harrasing spell casters, distracting archers, etc etc)
wrightjd
So how has the Gargoyle been working for all of you (yall ~ so Matt can understand me)? I've used him only once, but he did a pretty good job. Cleaned up the Orc cleric warlord pretty well (not by himself mind you, the bloodseeker came in and cleaned her clock first). Brushmaster
I've seen the Gargoyle played on 6 occasions and each time its ended up a pincussion before its done anything ! The biggest problem with it is its one damage track . You have to be very careful when you use it .
Qwyksilver
Any arrow fire spent not hitting your elites is a good thing. Sometimes sacrificing a model so others will live (or unlive as the case may be) is a good strategy.
spiritual_exorcist
Has anyone pulled out and played a Crypt Legion force consisting entirely of Zombies? I recently played such a force (1000 point) consisting of about 25 Zombies + musician, 2 x Railor (loaded with spells and lesser empowerment to use the Crypt Legion healing ability), and Lord Kentaur leading the way, and supported by 2 Banshees. I won't say I dominated my opponent, but my with Tough/4 my Zombies certainly gave my opponent alot to deal with (including removing his Hill Giant early in the game). The game wasn't totaly lop sided, but I did win by a fair margin. I have to say, as a huge Zombie fan, I had a blast and would recommend trying it out for kicks (while I have 9 Reaper Zombies, I'd recommend anyone looking to field this sort of force look towards the GW plastic Zombie box sets to fill out the majority of their Zombie ranks; just make sure to base them on the proper 1 inch base size instead of the smaller bases they come with). I tested with 6 troops of Zombies (2 Azarphans and 4 Railors). Truly a fun game (admittedly alot of Tough rolls to make). The funniest test was up against a shooter army. Talk about your weeble-wooble.
dneff23
Hi, I am new to Warlord. I have created my first 1000 point list, and was wondering what changes or suggestions you people have. The list leaves me 85 points to spend equipping the Lich with spells, etc. 1000 point Crypt Legion list: Moandain (still needs spells...I am thinking about fireball) 4 Skeleton Archers 4 Skeleton Warriors Railor (spell: Life Transfer) 6 Wraith Harvesters Lord Kentaur 4 Skeleton Warriors 4 Skeleton Breakers Nightspecter Banshee Banshee

So, let me think about making a Moandain army in a 1000 point force, Moandain is a dedicated spellcaster, so I think to make him effective you'd really have to load him up. Moandain (3/12 Mage), 166 + Chilling Touch, 5/171 (for 5 points a little bit of extra protection from grunts doesn't hurt + Vile + Horrid makes him real evil) +2 x Scare, 20/191 (a 10 point spell that can make it quite a bit easier for your troops to do damage once your opponents are shaken) +1 x Dispel, 10/201 (Just handy to have in case, if you don't see yourself using it you can always sacrifice it to heal your grunts) +3 x Convulsive Fear, 45/246 (Keep Moandain hidden behind your troops and pluck off wounds using this ability) +1 x Fire Storm, 75/321 (If you are going to invest in Fireball anyhow, spend the extra 25 points it is worth every bit) I would add him to a troop that included all 8 Skeletal Warriors with toughness, and this would form the centre of your army ( I would also consider using 2 x Lord Gauren, upgrading to better hereos in larger games, instead of the Night Spectre). Using Necromantic Surges Moandain becomes an extremely effective cleric model able to keep the this unit continually on their feet and fighting long after they should have died. Just a thought (Railor + Less Emp + 2x bindsouls + 4 x iceshards) can be used in much the same way, but make sure he is paired with models having toughness to take advantage of it (I use zombies). THe above version of Moandain is probably best suited for larger games (1500-2000), but so are most Warlord, and I just can't see fielding him with anything less than a full compliment of spells. spiritual_exorcist
Probably not the best place to put the notice, simply because alot of people don't check each faction specific thread. Probably better if this was moved to its own thread in Warlord general.
