Mad Pat
Count me in for next time Jason, I'm in. As for playing in Garland, was by the shop tonight, nice play area. I've got some basic Terrain that we can use, and getting more shouldn't be too hard. I've got two 4*6 matts and a box of tan hills for sand. If everyone makes or brings two pieces of terrain you'd be surprised how much you have to play with. Mad Pat
Stubbdog
Well guys, just want to say I had a great time, well not really, Bruce really handed it to me, but still was good to do some learning and I will make adjustments for next time. but, no matter how the game went for me, the company and just the fact that i was getting to play, was great!!!! Lady Justice, we completely forgot to take advantage of your faction SA and you could have MERCIED several of those enemies.. and brought them into your army... Which brings up another question, can you mercy those minions that DrJ was summoning?
tabascojunkie
Yup, good game and lots of fun all around. I wish we could have finished the game. I wanted to see how DrJ and Lady Justice's side of the fight would have finished. For anyone that wants to know, it was a 4 player fight with DrJ and I both using Necropolis Crypt Legion against Lady Justice with Crusaders and Dchihorn playing Reptus. Me and Dchihorn squared off on one side of the table, and I steadily ground him down while one of his troops went off to engage one of DrJ's troops, taking out quite a few breakers. DrJ and Lady Justice's side of it had I think the most impressive single moments, with really good timing of a hold spell locking up I think 7 skeletal breakers first thing in the turn, and Aysa dropping a fire storm to take out several Templar Knights as well as a few of his own breakers. Did I mention DrJ likes to use a lot of breakers? Lots of good gaming, and much thanks to Jason for having us over. Can't wait til next time. drjsallison
I can't say I would have liked to have seen how my end of the battle would have turned out. Lady justice was taking my undead out at a rate of 3 of mine for any 1 of hers. The only thing that saved me was that the legion (especially zombies) kept getting back up to fight. I honestly fear I would have been in really bad shape waiting for Tabasco's grave horror to arrive. Amazing defense pplay by Lady Justice. DChiHorns reptus are just mean. Against Bruce's hoard, they dropped like flies, but one on one with me was a brutal fight. For anyone who wasn't able to attend, you absolutely must attend the next east-side battle. Thank you Jason for hosting this great slaughter. Fun, fun, fun!

Which brings up another question, can you mercy those minions that DrJ was summoning? We didn't forget about the Mercy SA, it was just kind of moot considering the all Necro foe. Page 110, under heading: Mercy, third paragraph, first sentence states: "Mercy cannot be granted to Models with the undead SA."
Stubbdog
You know I read that about 10 minutes after I made that post.... Oh well. Well, my reptus had mixed reviews. On the one hand I did split off about 300 of my 750 points to take on Dr J, while that left the rest to take on Bruce's horde. But, on the other hand, Bruce broke off his 219 point Grave Horror to aid Dr J on the other flank. In the end, I guess it was a mostly fair fight with what remained. The problem was that Bruce consistently won 2-3 initiative cards before I had my first turned over. And because of that he was able to throw all 6 of his archers at my Uru and get that lucky 10 before I ever got to use him. Why skeletal archers are only 24 points is beyond me. With a RAV2 (the same as my archers), and deflect - giving them the same DV as my archers - they ought to be at least 32 each. I can understand not a full 41 like the reptus that have the 2nd shot, but still not as cheap as they are. Or my reptus should ahve a second damage track since they are supposedly worth twice as much. One or the other. One thing I can say, after using a couple of them, I dont see me ever using Longstrikers again. Which is really disapointing considering how cool looking their new sculpts look. Only way i would use them is if i just had a whole bunch of extra points to blow for no reason. With the breakers and the longstrikes having the same point cost and the same DV, well I ask myself would i rather have a +1 to one breakers attack or another +3 (and possible support bonus) attacker on the field. I guess only if you knew you were gonna be fighting on a really cramped table.
drjsallison
Don't forget about the reach advantage of longstrikers. If they are your second rank you get support. They can support anything in base contact with them and don't have to be in contact with the enemy. They dont have the breaker MAV, but they can be the ultimate support troop. Stubbdog
Lady Justice, Could you please post what your force was for that game. I know generally what it was, but not the exact breakdown with equipment and all. I'd like to "study" it a bit. Thanks. Jason
tabascojunkie
Yeah that was a tough bunch of Crusaders. That's why I chose to go make luggage instead of fighting the Spam Squad.

tabascojunkie
I think the first part of the conversion was adding a shield to serve as the platter.
