Stubbdog
Lady Justice, Could you please post what your force was for that game. I know generally what it was, but not the exact breakdown with equipment and all. I'd like to "study" it a bit. Thanks. Jason Ironraven w/ MMW and Less magic armor Halbarad w/ Improved Prot. Lesser Armor 2x Bandage, 1x Hold 9 Unforgiven w/ lesser weapon and musician upgrade 1 serving platter so I could hand Dr.J's butt to him I know that you have not played a whole bunch so I just want to point out a quick thing for you: 9 * lesser weapon upgrade = 9*15 = 135 or 1 * battle totem = 75 (based on we were playing a 750 point game) You would have had another 60 points to buy more spells or more troops. But, you still did a heck of a job with what you brought. I appreciate you coming.
jhilahd
Update. Did anyone go last night? I apologize that I was not there, I'm dealing with a very sick child. If we have to do another round of tests where he gets prodded and poked, I'll be the one to start crying. Anywho's... If you went, how'd it go? So what is the next "scheduled" Thursday? Jhilahd Actualy, due to my current situation pending surgery, I felt it would be prudent to wait until I could commit the time and resources to thhis project. I forsee this becoming a reality after the first of the year, but in the meantime, I have a couple homes available for casual play should anyone feel the need to battle it out. Send me a PM if interested in an informal casual game. I apologize for the delay in an east Dallas location, but I didn't want to set it up and then be unavailable to attend and organize these events. Fret not. The project is by no means abandoned, it's simply on hold until I get back on my feet (literally )
tabascojunkie
Just so everybody on the East Side, and anyone that wants to check out a new store, knows, there's a new comic shop open at the southwest corner of Rowlett Rd. and Hwy. 66. It's called Xtreme Comics and Collectibles. It just opened last Friday. I had a short chat with Jack, the owner.Seems to be a good guy. He owned a shop in the same shopping strip there about 15 years ago, can't remember what he said the name was, and he sold it to the guy that turned it into Einstein's Comics if anybody remembers that one. The store's a nice clean, proffesional looking place, not a hole in the wall comic shop like have been seen before. Comics, some RPG and Battletech stuff, action figures, resin busts and statues, all that kind of stuff. He said he's still waiting for a lot of his inventory to come in, which will include, basically the point of all this, lots of REAPER!! He said he'll have paints, minis, stuff for the games, etc. and so forth. He told me he had thought about setting up game tables if enough people show an interest. There's room in the front of the place and also in the back room for all this if it could work out. And of course I mentioned our little group. Sounds like an opportunity for a BL to spring up . Anyway, just thought I'd share. I know since it's only about 5 minutes from my house with bad traffic, I'm sure I'll have trips there fairly often, especially once he starts getting the Reaper stuff in, which a lot should be in November according to his Jack's memory. So, fertile fields to sew!
jhilahd
Cool!!! I'll have to check it out and see how far it is from me, and hopefully, it'll be around for a while. We always need more stores to keep the business going. :D
drjsallison
This sounds like a good oppertunity. I like Comic Asylum and Mark is a good guy, but he is also hesitating to carry Reaper stuff in any real quantity and wants to only order for those who place an order with him. If my intentions in organizing a group was simply a place to play, this would be fine. Unfortunately, I am wanting to spread the joys of Reaper and Warlord (yeah, CAV too, Bruce) to the masses. It is always nice to grow a group and when you are at a location, be a benifit to the business. Minis are a great hobby and the more people that can be exposed to it, the better. I figure the best way to go is to be in a place where we help make the store $$$$ in exchange for our loitering. The options I have worked out with Mark are quite limiting and if this store plans on supporting Reaper, then I say we support it in turn. I soooo have to check this place out. Thanks for the heads up.
jhilahd
Tabasco, Since you seem closest and brought this to our attention, any updates on the new store? Has he started stocking mini's? I just wished he'd stay open alittle bit longer. I'm usually on the road coming home when he closes his doors. Thanks and bump!
tabascojunkie
I stopped by there Saturday and spent some junk-money on the kids and picked up a few DHL minis and the one triad of MSPs that was there. Got the Astral Mauler! Gotta take a break from painting CAVs to do that one. He had some minis in, just a little bit of DHL, maybe a dozen or so, some LOt5R and a pretty good bit of Warmachine. He said he'd be getting an MSP wall rack in this week and should be getting alot more Reaper minis in a week or 2. When I asked Jack how much in the way of minis he'd have eventually, he said the whole back wall to right of the back door and most of the wall behind the counter would be minis. Sounds like a good chunk. Yay! And yeah, his hours are kind of short. The latest they're open is 7 on Thursdays, new comic day. And not open at all on Sundays apparently. But maybe if can get a regular game in there and buy enough from him we can get a later night. So it looks like it's coming along. Maybe we can arrange a Saturday afternoon game one weekend soon if he's got a table or 2 set up. If you or anyone else is up for it I'll talk to him about it. Lady Justice
Stopped in on Sat. and Jack said he should have his MSP's on Weds. (5 of each flavor I think) and a good chunk of minis the following week. I think his first shipments are DHL stuff and it will be 2-3 weeks on the bulk of the warlord minis. (forgot to ask but that is what it sounded like.) I think this will be a great shop and only 5 min from home as well
tabascojunkie
I'll have to bug him about getting some CAVs too.
Stubbdog
well, i would suggest arranging a game, but 7? man i wouldnt even make it out of my office parking lot by then. Bruce you are gonna have to tell him that if he wants gamers, the doors gotta be open. Until then, hey guys, you all interested in coming over again to my side o town and throwing down? How bout, say the first or second weekend in Dec?

I know we got several Warlord players, but when are we gonna litter that table with dead CAVs again? Most likely your dead CAVs
Stubbdog
well, depends on the group. i am always open to whatever the group wants. By then I should have two of my tables up and functional. So, options will be available.
jhilahd
Sounds good to me too. I just gotta check the schedule with my boss aka Wife. :D CAV/Warlord both work for me. To be honest, I have the new beta rules for CAV2, but don't know them as well as Warlord. So if y'all be willing to suffer with me, I'd be willing to blow your CAV's up. Or just Warlord. So why don't you set up some army point lists for us to work towards. That way if I need to go pick up some more figs, I can, and still have time to paint them before we play. I just look forward to playing.
