640k
Is it correct that Dwarves' Bane ability works with ranged weapons, and if so, why on earth should it? It's already way too powerful... I can't see any compelling reason for it. Secondly... Reptus' marshwalker ability... Given that no sane opponent will ever allow you as a reptus player, to actually have swamp terrain on the field (since it must be agreed to by all parties), other than perhaps a small token bit that won't make a lick of difference, shouldn't their point costs be reduced? Why pay extra for an SA you won't EVER get to use, short of a scenerio or some such? Seems pretty lopsided, especially compared with the Elves' ability that they are likely to get to take advantage of in almost every game they play. Or since their point cost isn't going to be reduced, maybe instead replace the "must be agreed to by both parties" type rule with a random table for terrain, so there is at least a chance that you'll get to use it? Anyway... ;) Ben

Sergei
Is it correct that Dwarves' Bane ability works with ranged weapons, and if so, why on earth should it? Dwarves are excellent craftsmen, maybe it's the design on there arrows, extra spiky or sharp. May there arrows are clockwork arrows, flying drillbits anyone? Bane is also a usless ability against armys that don't have tough. I'm playing devils advocate, I actually agree with you with the swampwalk. But you can also use some house rules that swampwalk includes river crossings as well.Or makes unpassable water x2 movement.
wildbill
We allow our Reptus player to decide on terrain for his battles every once in a while. Yes, there are lots of marshes. However, it isn't all bad. If you put some cliffs or something around it, then they still have to run around and charge you up a hill. That's what I try to do anyways. And yes, Bane is ultrafabulous!!! Wild Bill
Qwyksilver
"Bane sucks!" - Every Reven player Yes, ANY attack by a Dwarf (melee, magic, ranged) uses Bane. As far as terrain. We usually throw a bunch of terrain on a table and let both parties set up pieces they want. If someone wants swamps, no biggie. I'll shoot you from further away, or cast Razor Grass on the swamp. Then you can take damage for standing in it
drjsallison
Thank goodness for the Crypt Legion. At least they get tough/1 when fighting dwarves. (tough/+1 is better though against everyone else)
jhilahd
Thank goodness for the Crypt Legion. At least they get tough/1 when fighting dwarves. (tough/+1 is better though against everyone else) Bane cancels out Toughness rolls. It considers those with it to have been Coup de Grace. As it was told to me, Dwarves do it right the first time. Qwyksilver
The Crypt Legion Faction Sub-list Special Ability specifically counters Bane and says so in the text. It effectively gives a model facing Dwarves a Tough/1 check.
ecs05norway
Yep. Unfortunately. The Crypt Legion Tough/1 bonus specifically ignores Coup of all sorts, be it from a loot action, Firestorm spell, Bane, or any other sorts. It -cannot- be taken away by -anything-. jhilahd
Ah, I see. I don't have the Necropolis book yet. That would explain why I didn't know about 'em. Curses....
ecs05norway
Yeah. Our local Necropolis player has fallen in love with it. PITA.
