Saint of Sinners
This seems to be a reacquiring issue for issue for ya. You mean "recurring"? I got over-confident and got spanked. Happens. These are just the opening salvoes and ratcheting up of tensions. The war hasn't even started yet. Terra lodged an official complaint with the Rach ambassador, not that it will do any good, about the incursion. The 101st Legion is on it's way to "stabilize" the situation. I blame the Terran to Adoneese back to Terran Translater So let me get this straight: the Terran pick a fight then cry foul that you lost? Crazy8
I like those... I'm stealing those ideas. Please do. They've served me well in the past. Strategic PR victory??? He accepted defeat with a stiff upper lip, but the bottom line is, he got whooped by the Rach. *sigh* I know it's hard for the Rach to grasp higher level strategy but sometimes you must concede the tactical advantage to obtain the strategic one. RCon is drawing closer and the more over confident the Rach are the greater their fall at RCon will be... (See the below quote for a perfect example... ) Rach are born with Thunder. We need not gloat about our victories unlike the puny terrans. In all my battles I've never seen machinery sacrificed in such a manner. Unlike what the terran meatbag would like you to believe our forces never landed a single indirect shot. It was the constant bombardment of direct Missle Attacks that kept the sleek yet ineffective Mitso-Ta equpment at bay. Your armored units have been melted into soda cans and your captured pilots and WSO's were put across our childrens knees and given a spanking by thier equals. The discrased should be arriving in the legion hall shortly. _____________________________________________________________________________ Four more lessons Spartan should have learned 1. Always field a force with some Missle attacks. The only units that had them were his Harpies. 2. Never get up close and personal with Rach. Keep your distance. He is lucky I didn't engage him in close quarter hand to hand. 3.no matter how badly he looses the terran propoganda machine will always put a positive spin on things. 4. Using the same initiave cards over and over for years makes their backs worn. ________________________________________________________________________________ It was a well fought battle. I was quite surprised how quickly he was able to advance. Losses appeared even until around the fourth turn. The turning point of the battle was the 70 Dictator putting three tracks on a Ronin, three tracks on an Archer, and finishing off a wolf tank with one missle volley. Ive never used Overdrive to such a satisfactory degree. Spartan asked if it was worth it to damage my own unit. I told him that Ill trade two points for seven any day (return fire took me to my fourth damage track to my dismay). After that his force had taken so much damage he spent more time repairing that shooting. When he surrendered (Yes Crazy8 he surrendered) he had his infantry platoon, a katana, and a ronin still left. I was left with everything except a Tyrant and a Dominator which had fallen. Good game Spartan6. It is nice to have a worthy foe in the galaxy. All that is left to say is... NOW SERVING NUMBER TWO. NUMBER TWO COME GET SERVED. NUMBER TWO... NUMBER TWO FYI- our embassador wiped his bum with your request and let it float in the camode. Add THAT to the list of infractions which will be recitified in due time. How can a Templar have so little understanding of the galaxy you claim to protect? Once more, slowly for the Templar: The Rach attacked us For the past several monthes, the Terrans have been bragging about whipping the Rach's butt twice. Instigating the resulting conflicts. You might have well been waving a red flag in front of a raging bull. And yer Terrans got such a beat down that you almost surrendered in yer last little scuffle. I hear the look on yer face was priceless as you concedered laying down yer arms.

I hear the look on yer face was priceless as you concedered laying down yer arms. You heard wrong. I did surrender. I'm not going to waste the lives of my soldiers in a pointless continuation of a battle that I can't win. As for the look on my face.. I'm guessing it was a smile as I said, "well played". RCon is drawing closer and the more over confident the Rach are the greater their fall at RCon will be... (See the below quote for a perfect example... ) Poor youngling. He mistakes overconficence for tactical superiority. All will be rectified come this May. Your propoganda will only serve to embarass you in the end when all earthers see that they were fed lies by thier world government. So many lives lost and for what? So that you can feel better about yourselves and your so called superriority? So you can make cash? Ill bet you appoint your friends to high ranking social and military offices to increase their debt to you and your organization. The rest of the galaxy knows that is the terran way. That is why you are so easy to defeat. Still serving number two.
Spartan6
Whatever helps you Rach sleep. They win one out of the last three and suddenly they're all "oooo we're big and bad and snarly". Someone load up a Hercules full of rawhide chew bones and deliver them to Mohr, compliments of the 101st Terran Legion.
Spartan6
*Cuts the lights and picks up the remote for the big ol' TV thingy* "This is from a recent engagement in JJA sector..." Static... followed by a digital tag identifying the video as gun camera and sensor data from a Starhawk V registration number BR-000549. The Starhawk rounds the corner of a building and finds itself within 100 meters ( 16 inches ) of a Ritterlich fire support platoon of four Manticore's and two Wolverines. There's some cursing as all six Ritterlich vehicles open up at point blank with cannon fire, flamer, indirect fire and machine guns. There's a mad swirling of dust and debris but as the firing abates the small sensor readout in the corner of the screen shows no damage whatsoever to the Starhawk V. There's some obscene cheering from the cockpit as the Starhawk's Charvelle gatling cannons open up and the CAV backpedals back around the corner of the building. The video cuts out to be replaced by data from a Thunderbird, registration number RB-17522. The sensor and camera footage show the Thunderbird destroying a lightly damaged Mastodon with indirect fire. Then destroying a damaged Tiger with indirect fire. Then as it moves into a stand of trees it's suddenly faced with a Cougar crashing through the trees after it. The arm mounted PBG's of the Thunderbird slam into the Cougar sending it sprawling, it's LBG barrels and canopy digging tripple furrows in the soft humus of the forest floor. Sensor data shows the Thunderbird being impacted by but not damaged by salvo after salvo of indirect fire from enemy Manticore's. Two Wolverine's crash into the underbrush and find themsleves burning and destroyed after a few seconds of firing from the Thunderbird. A Jaguar careens crazily through the trees, firing. The firing from the Jaguar rocks the Thunderbird as two more tanks arrive, one of them destroyed by it's own support Manticore's as they rain indirect fire into the forest. Again and again the Jaguar, Wolverine and Manticore's pour fire into the Thunderbird, the forest around it disapearing in a torrent of wood splinters and smoke. The Jaguar and Wolverine are slammed hard again and again by the Thunderbirds PBG's but finally the Thunderbirds cameras go dark. Again the video cuts, this time to the gun cameras of a Mitso -Ta Samurai as it pounds a Tiger mercilessly while moving at full speed. The Tigers return fire is ineffectual. The Samurai pursues the Tiger until it finds itself faced with a Mastodon, Jaguar and Cougar, the Tiger disapearing into the woods behind them. The Samurai pilot curses and slams his CAV's throttles to the stops, reversing. The Mastodons cannon booms once, quickly followed by the Cougar and Jaguars' guns. The feed ends as the Samurai staggers back into the wall of a building... *Turns the lights back up and starts passing out drinks*
Sergeant_Crunch
Nice battle report, I can never seem to remember enough to write a good narrative like that. What was the body count after all was said and done?
dannibal
Hi All, I've been reading over the CAV 2 rules. They really look great! I have a mix of models and seem to have a nice corps for a couple of factions. Looking at the points, it looks like I have a full Task Force of Terrans. I was wondering what you might recommend to round it out. It's all Mitso-Ta so I'd like to stay with that UCOR. I like a general-purpose army. I've got: 1 Armor Platoon: 1 Katana, 1 Archer, 2 Naginatas 2 Flights: 4 Tsuisekis Infantry enough for a full Rifle Platoon Are 4 Tsuiseki's too expensive? Would more armor be a better value? Have you found armored transport infantry platoons essential? I'd need to get some APCs then. What mix for the infantry works well? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks! Spartan6
My feelings are you should look at getting some Tsukai APC's for your infantry. Standard infantry is okay in some cases but I like to mix in Hunter and Shredder teams. My personal favorite are mortar platoons but I'm biased. Bear in mind though that those have to go in mortar platoons and not infrantry platoons but you can have one stand of any kind of infantry in a mortar platoon. The Tsuiseki is awesome but I like to mate them up with a Kikyu for those pesky soft targets. I'd get two more CAV's and two more tanks and go ahead and make them two seperate platoons. You lose a lot of firepower with tanks because they only have one attack generally. My suggestion would be a Ronin and a Samurai and then two more Naginata's. The Ashigaru is pretty cheap firepower and the Ryoshi holds up pretty well too.
ReaperShaun
You will want some frontline cav units with Wizzo. any will do.
Spartan6
Nice battle report, I can never seem to remember enough to write a good narrative like that. What was the body count after all was said and done? I started with: Thunderbird Talon Samurai Starhawk V Raptor Kikyu Kikyu Ashigaru Hunter Team x 3 This was the first game my opponent had played beyond a simple demo game. He had: Mastodon Jaguar Cougar Tiger Wolverine x 2 Manticore x 4 Wolverine x 2 (The Ritterlich have that tank doctrine thing. ) My Terran force destroyed everything but the 4 Manticore's and left the Jaguar and one Wolverine badly torn up. I was experimenting with a Scout platoon concept that didn't work out very well but it took the Ritterlich a long and bloody time to finally bring down the Thunderbird.
