ok who let the toad in <_<

this hall has been quiet too long...

I am starting to bounce around some ideas for 2500-3000 point forces....

would love some input from everyone on what they would run...

I know one simple one is one outek ran against me - 3 thunderbirds all with improved munitions

another idea outek and i talked about was an all infantry force equipped with jump packs and at-23's or a mix of at 23 and at-52s.... and 10 cruise missles using artillery superiority doctrine

another idea is this

Primary armor section

Starhawk 6 with avenger/3

Starhawk 5 with avenger/3

Starhawk 5 with avenger/3

Nomad with EST upgrade

Primary Specialist

Thunderbird with adjustable munitions and avenger/3

Talon (terran specific) with avenger/3

Primary Rifle

Armored rifle team with Jump Pack training and at-23 x 2

1 satchel charge

Hello,

Well I finally finished reading the rules and am in the process of filling out my UTMC sections. I have a couple of Terran doctrine questions:

1. Air Power allows you to have two flight sections for each primary section. I assume that I still need to pay the cost of those flight sections? Also, does that limit my count for other secondary sections? For instance, if I have an Armor section and a Mech. Infantry section as my primaries and a Fire support as my secondary, can I then add 4 flight sections under the Air Superiority Doctrine?

2. Both the Air and Artiliery doctrines give you a strike each turn for every full 2000 points. If playing a 4000 point game, I'd get two strikes a turn if my force is exactly 4000 points, but not if it was 3997 (what it currently is), correct?

Thanks,

TS

Yes, you have to pay for them.

You have 2 primaries in your example above. Using the normal 1:1 ratio, you could have:

2 secondary sections if neither are Flights.

3 secondary sections if two are Flights and the other is not.

4 secondary sections if all 4 are flights.

2. Both the Air and Artiliery doctrines give you a strike each turn for every full 2000 points. If playing a 4000 point game, I'd get two strikes a turn if my force is exactly 4000 points, but not if it was 3997 (what it currently is), correct?

Are you using a copy of the old beta rules or something? I don't know where else you'd get this idea from, b/c the free Strikes are no longer tied to game size. You really need to get the rulebook, b/c a lot has changed since the beta testing. You just get 1 free strike per turn now.

Played an interesting list yesterday, and had some success with it. My opponent (without knowing what I was playing), managed to bring a bunch of indirect AOE and Shredder stuff (Templars with 4 Flails and a Soverign).

Artillery Superiority doctrine.

Specialist – 2 Naginata Tanks, Tsuiseki

Rifle – 3 Armored infantry w/ Airborne, Orbital Insertion, and AT-23

Rifle – 6 Rifle w/ Airborne and Orbital Insertion

Flight – 2 Longbows with Orbital Insertion

5 Orbital Pinpoint strikes and 3 smoke strike

Next time, I will swap the Tsuiseki for AT-23s on 5 of my Rifle stands. That would finish the list up, I think.

Played nicely. Lost, but I still had fun bringing things on in the backfield of my opponent.

Never seen any beta rules, I just bought the CAV 2 Starter set for Christmas and am following the rules listed in the PDF that came on the CD. Is this an issue for the errata?

I don't have the book with me now, but it was the last page of the CAV 2 Rulebook with actual content on it, in the Appendix describing the doctrines, under the Terran Doctrine section, in both the Artilliary and Air Superiority sections. That is as specific as I can get without having the book here.

It is not from the Quick Start Rules, as I have printed and bound that seperately and have not looked at it yet.

If you need more specifics, I can get the PDF when I get home tonight. Maybe the Starter Set includes the wrong version of the core rules?

Whatever you were reading is incorrect, I've almost always played Terran and have never done this. This is directly from the Core CAV 2 rules with regards to Terran air and arty support. It specifically states one free strike per turn.

Air Superiority Doctrine

Dedicated Air Support

You receive one free Air Strike per game turn.

All normal rules apply. If not used by the end of

the turn, it is lost.

And

Air Power

You may take up to two Secondary Flight Sections

per Primary Section.

Artillery Superiority Doctrine

Dedicated Artillery Support

You receive one free Artillery Strike per game

turn. All normal rules apply. If not used by the

end of the turn, it is lost.

And

Networked

All Infantry Models receive the FiST SA.
