Saint of Sinners
Know the feeling, I'm in Kansas now. Kansas? Exciting... Not so much. Hey, now there will be no knockin' Kansas... not until you've lived here for a year. Then you can bad mouth it all you want. Besides, everyone knows that the best CAV players are from Kansas
Aldyn
/salute New commander reporting in from the hinterlands of Montana... the Terran 163d Legion is just being activated. Our local upstarts seem to have an unhealthy fascination with the Ritterlich, and I plan to beat them down mercilessly. I have set up a few different lists/configurations for various set ups, I'm just curious about strikes... 1) are your strikes funded from a separate pool of points based on your army size, or do I have to sacrifice points that would otherwsie be spent on hardware? 2) do you only ever get one strike a turn, or with the Terran Air Superiority Doctrine, do you get an additonal free Air Strike too? 3) does the FIST unit have to have an available activation to call a strike? and does this apply to the free Air Strike as well? thanks! Sergeant_Crunch
/salute New commander reporting in from the hinterlands of Montana... the Terran 163d Legion is just being activated. Our local upstarts seem to have an unhealthy fascination with the Ritterlich, and I plan to beat them down mercilessly. Welcome! I have set up a few different lists/configurations for various set ups, I'm just curious about strikes... 1) are your strikes funded from a separate pool of points based on your army size, or do I have to sacrifice points that would otherwsie be spent on hardware? The points are taken from the overall total, so points you spend on strikes are points you can't use for hardware. However the errata for the doctrines in RAGE Chronicles 2008 modify the way this works for Terrans2) do you only ever get one strike a turn, or with the Terran Air Superiority Doctrine, do you get an additonal free Air Strike too?As long as you have available FIST models you can call in a strike, but (with the core rules) you only get one free strike per turn. The RC08 errata changes how the free strikes are allocated3) does the FIST unit have to have an available activation to call a strike? and does this apply to the free Air Strike as well?the FIST model must spend a non-repeatable action to call a strike. So each FIST model may call one strike per activation (of which it gets one per turn). However, lets say you have a Rifle section with 10 stands of infantry all with FIST. That section could call a total of 10 strikes in its activation. Depending on the situation that could be good or bad and of course there's the dice to deal with. Using the core rules you have you have the non-repeatable action available to the FIST model to call the free strike.thanks! no problem! If you haven't guessed, you'll want the RC08 document as it makes major changes to how the Terran Doctrines work. Essentially what happens is that instead of one free strike per turn, part of the available points for strikes don't cost you anything, freeing up points for hardware/upgrades. These free strikes are called as regular strikes so you can call more than one per FIST model available in the current activation. Clear as mud? You can find the RC08 beta document linked from the FAQ.
KAMUT
Looks like the UTDF is being reactivated for a short spell. although all thats left is Alpha Spear (Wild Apache) and Tango Spear (Lone Wolf Rangers) Also Romeo Spear is in good shape (Rach-OPFOR). For those who don't Know or remember, I organized by 7500 point task forces called Tomahawks when we were in the old CAV system. 3 Tomahawks equal a spear. Requesting Black Lightning support in Atlanta, GA. If any assistance is required for league building, I have more than enough CAVs to loan out, plus I'm dropping anything I have that isn't part of my main Battalion. Have plenty of OPFOR CAVs for KDM, HM and the Malvies too, so hit me up. [email protected]
Broode
Yesterday I had a post about which Active-Duty Legions were which Legionnaire's "baby", but the database crash earlier today wiped out that post. I knew that the 17th, 33rd, 35th, 77th, 88th, and 101st were taken, and thanks to outek's reply the 74th is also taken. I looked up some real-world units on the web and found one I like that I want to pattern my Legion after, plus I don't think anyone has taken the 11th Legion, so that is my "baby" The Terran 11th Legion - The Black Horse Legion is based on the U.S. Army 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment stationed at Fort Irwin, California. The Regiment is best known by the general public as the unit that serves as OPFOR.
outek
To the best of my knowledge, the 11th is 'yours'. Welcome to the lists. As an OPFOR, I can potentially see quite a few Open Market units in your future.
Sergeant_Crunch
Check the fluff in the book, there are a number of Legions permanently stationed on and around Terra for defense. I want to say it's the 1st through 10th Legions, but can't remember off the top of my head.

The 2nd through 9th Legions are stationed on Terra and form a "Praetorian Guard". Legions 10 through 101 are "line" Legions

Broode
Well, now I'm working on two legions, the Terran 11th(The Black Horse Legion) and the Terran 51st(Slayers). I've got the next four days off and hope to be able to work on some fluff for the 11th Legion, also making a prototype Army List for it. Vanleron
So what Legions are still available to be taken? Cuz I'm ready to get fully into Cav and join the Terran ranks.
outek
The Legions which have been 'taken' to the best of my knowledge are: [Active Line Legions] 10th*, 11th, 17th, 22nd, 33rd, 35th, 42nd*, 43rd*, 51st*, 72nd*, 74th, 77th, 86th*, 88th, 101st*, 1st Fulminarius*, 3rd Fulminarius [Reserve Legions] 141st, 163rd(?) *Cannon Legions from CAV2 PDF [1st Fulminarius composed of the 51st, 72nd, and 86th Legions which were Mercenary units recalled to active duty (Slayers, Yellow Jackets, and Steel Dragons)]
Saint of Sinners
The 13th legion is also taken. All I can say at the moment is they are from Mars and they are a Tactical Legion (as oppose to an assualt or Standard legion.)
Vanleron
I will then take command of the 20th Legion
