That's the Rach police. We employ snipers for the surgical removal of a criminal who presents a threat to public safety.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted November 8, 2005 Moderator Share Posted November 8, 2005 Well, so long as you don't have any Vanquishers around, and especially not Vanquishers with Koda Works propagandists reading their guncams, you should be ok. Crazy8
Topic Change: Have any of you guys actually used a Kikyu?? Besides having a pair just to have them I've never used one in a game. If I can't afford the Tsuiseki I always manage to squeeze in a flight of Harpies...
Spartan6
I'm a fan of the Harpy too. I had a flight of Kikyu's used on me with great effect. Don't discount them.
Saint of Sinners
The kikyu have shredders and link on top of the standard scout gunship. Which means they are nasty gunship killers. I recommend them if yer facing a heavy gunship force.

I bought a pack of Harpies over the weekend. A DA and a missile on a gunship should be good stuff.
Spartan6
It is good stuff. I like them better than the Tsuiseki actually.

I personally don't like going after CAV's with them but they are great at picking off conventional armor.
Crazy8
Like the stats, hate the model. For the most part I love the CAV models across the board but every once in a while one of them just make me say "eeewwwww". This is one. Way too much size on the guns. I've thought about swapping them with another models arm but haven't decided yet. Papabees, did you ever find new arms that you liked? papabees
I've been so stinkin busy at work I haven't even looked at a CAV model this week.
Crazy8
I feel ya, I've got a half painted Thunderbird and a half painted Centurion that work has kept me from finishing.
Crazy8
Things are slow in Cubeopolis right now so lets discuss... The Harpy Range: 32, Rav: 3, DV: 9, Mov: 24 DA: 1, MA: 1 SA's: Independent, Soft, PBG DT's: 2 Role: Close Air Support (Anti-armor, anti-infantry) Mitso-Ta "rival": None My thoughts... Looks: I like the Harpy model for it's simplicity and ease of painting. I'm looking forward to the re-cast N-scale model for the extra detail available, especially on the missile launcher. Overall I think the model flows very well and stays true to the "look" of the SyRaM product line. The top mount missile launcher is a unique "futuristic" touch on a model that reflects many traits of today's modern fighter aircraft. Performance: In all of the "official" CAV games I've played the Harpy has been my air element of choice. Harpies take a nice middle of the road approach compared to their Mitso-Ta counterparts. While not as powerful as the Tsuiseki it's a much better armor platform then the Kikyu. The standard two damage tracks are enough to allow for some "neck on the line" tactics that you wouldn't think about doing with a Kikyu, although don't get your Harpy confused with a Tsuiseki, you'll lose it before it's had a chance to do any damage! The two different attack modes give you some flexibility on the offensive end, depending on your targets range and cover. Nothing spectacular is going on in the SA department. Independent can be useful if you are playing on a HUGE board and PBG is always a nice touch on an airborne platform. Final Thoughts: An all around decent gunship with good battlefield survivability and offensive punch. I like to use Harpies as harrassing forces, especially if the other guy is using lots of tracked/wheeled armor. When going up against CAV's I've learned (the hard way!) Harpies are best at picking off Support (watch those AA SA's)and Scout models. I rarely if ever use Harpies on Superiority or Super CAV's unless they are banged up big time or I have another model in the enemies LOS that constitutes a greater threat then a couple of "annoying" gunships. A pair of Harpies makes for a well rounded CAS flight while not sacrificing to much in any one area. They're also easy on the wallet, coming in at 234 points a piece, compared to the Tsuiseki's 330. Again, another model that I hope is untouched when CAV2 releases. Rating: 8 out of 10 Legionnaires. Comments? Next Week: Something that rolls...
