BunnyPuncher
This mini screamed "yeti" to me so I did him up in a winter theme. Grey was by the customer request. Still have not gotten this "photography" thing down at all, as even when I shrink it to 1:1 the picture looks nothing like the mini. This is a WOTC Chainmail model from the second set: "Crazed Minotaur Cultist" I think he'll be making an appearance in a D&D campaign soon from what I understand. Customer takes delivery tomorrow so I hope he is happy!
Hexxenhammer
Great paintjob. I didn't like this re-sculpt though. Not...enough...cow-bell.
WintersRainne
His skin colouration is probably my favorite part - great handling of grey - I too am not to fond of the sculpt though...
LordColdsteal
Nice job.. horns look good.
ixminis
Your customer should be plenty happy. It's a well executed and clean color scheme. Does anyone else see a little bit of a "gremlin" face in his expression (the evil gremlins from the movie) ???
dewen
That is the first I have seen of the alt sculpt. I have to agree with other replies that I am not crazy about the sculpt. The original is better. For those of you not familiar with it here it is. You did a nice job with the gray. I usually stay away from gray because it doesn't turn out that well. BunnyPuncher
Thanks for the feedback gang... I kinda agree about the sculpt, between the turned in axe (wtf is up with that?), to the saucerlike head, to the static pose it certainly has some weaknesses. I do like the "gremlin" face however, and that is where I have found chainmail minis to be fantastic. Their sculptors really paid attention to facial features (perhaps to the loss of the rest of the mini). In any event, they grey turned out better than expected - other than one practice piece this was the first time for grey skin. I still don't think this is a mino tho... its like a yeti that grew horns. P.S. I hate the original sculpt :)
CuCulain42
I like the resculpt better, though neither sculpt really grabs me. The Yeiy theme seems to fit this version of the sculpt though. I know that the color was customer request but I think if the grey had just a hint of blue in it it would really have that fridgid look. Frankthedm
Great paint, good skin tones, cool skulls. Ugly sculpt. The figure was supposed to have been a "feral" minotaur, but wound up being a 2nd sculpt for the cultist. the first crazed minotaur cultist was about to break his horns off with his own axe swing. haldir
Frank now that you mention it, he does have the look one thing about 3.0-5 D&D is that they kinda took the trad look for minotaurs away & gave them beast heads with horns & not a bull head with horns, soooo anyways, nice paint job, love the skintone, nice dark grey one of my favorite colors, love the skull color as well (then again I can't paint bone worth a hoot soooo) Randy M
BunnyPuncher
Despite the quality of some of the chainmail stuff I am rapidly accumlating quite a bit of the models. Can't quite peg what I like about them but it might be they feel a bit "bridging" when it comes to design: modern 3-D poses with old RP artistic influence. Can't figure it out tbh, but I do love the faces on their biggun minis! But after painting an entire space marine army, anything looks good ;)
Sergeant_Crunch
But after painting an entire space marine army, anything looks good ;) The solution I've found to that is, don't paint space marines. Gotta agree with Hex and the rest, cool paintjob but not enough cowbell
