haldir
One (well besides the saber battle with Darth Maul) of the shining moments in Eps 1 was Qui-Gonn, i thought he had a great balance between being a teacher & a guardian. But overall I like Obi Wan out of all of them, espically Alec Guiness version. thou Star Wars kid gets my vote thou, he has moves that none of the other jedi can even think about performing ha ha :)

zaphod
It's funny, because the longer this goes on, and the more I think on it, the more I like Obi-Wan. I mean, the story was all about Anakin and his rise to power, the turning, the evil and the returning... but Obi-Wan had the most successes and was always the Jedi the council would turn to. Quietly, he was the strongest in resolve and always tempered his actions with good thought.
Sergeant_Crunch
Gotta be Obi Wan. First off, he didn't kill Anakin during his teen-age years for being an angst ridden, sulky, whiney little...well you get the idea. Luke was strong, but he started out too whiney then becomes all mystical mysterious in Ep. VI. Qui-Gon was good, but got sliced and diced by Darth Maul. Yodi, cool no doubt, but I think he spent too much time in the spire of the Jedi Council and though the future he could see, the world around him he could not. Obi-wan was the embodiment of what the Jedi believed in. The only reason he allowed himself to be "killed" by Anakin was so that he could become closer to the Force and continue the fight against the Sith. "You were my bother!" Just a typo or what Obi-Wan was really thinking at the time....you decide

Jeff LaMarche
Well the latest greatest poll I have going on the ZaphBlog is about Jedi. Yeah that's right. I have taken the 6 most prolific Jedi and made it so that YOU decide who was the best... Sheeesh... can't believe i'm getting sucked into this thread. Loved the first trilogy despite its flaws, still do. But the prequels? Ugh. Episode I was bad, Episode II was so bad that I couldn't sit through all of it, and I haven't even bothered with Episode III. About the only thing that could have made me pay to see Episode III was advertising the movie with a tagline that read "Natalie Portman is completely naked in this movie," and even then, I might have just waited for DVD - she's cute, but I'm not sure she's cute enough to make me pay money to sit through another trainwreck of a movie. But this question is easy for me: Obi-wan, hands down. He was the only one who was in all six movies, and even though played by two different actors, the part was consistently well-acted, which is a rarity in these films given the hokey dialogue that George wrote and the lack of a good director (at least for episodes I through IV & VI - Kersh, unlike Lucas, knows how to direct flesh-and-blood actors). Don't give me that look - these are characters in mediocre movies. I mean, they don't really exist. You guys could argue for months about who's the greatest based on your own interpretations of the paper-thin archetypical characters George gave us, but I'm voting based on the real power and strength of will it took to read Lucas' dialogue with a straight face. Obi wan, all the way, baby.
haldir
Jeff don't worry I didn't see the eps 3 in the theatre either, had my ticket at Rcon but gave it away (mainly cause I didn't want to get into the hotel room at 3 & wake up 7 that morning, ughhh) anyways, I'm slowly falling out of SW myself, love the movies as a kid (seen the ANH when I was 4 & seen alot of times, more the 15 I know that much in the theatre, I had almost all the toys etc etc), but yes the way Special Effects Lucas treated the prequals is really what killed my interested, granted the 2nd flim wasn't bad, mainly cause I got to see my favorite SW character whip out his saber & do sword fightin, but overall ehhh, the LOTR trilogy has overtaken SW as my favorite set of movies. I'll probably buy the RoTS when it comes out on DVD Nov 1st , cause I do want to see it, just had no interest when it was in the big house. Saint of Sinners
Han Solo... who needs a hokey out dated religion when you got a blaster, a wookie and a fast ship.
Vil-hatarn
I personally prefer characters from the games, which are far better than the movies. Based on the movies alone, I'd vote for Obi-wan, but if you go by the books and all, I'd go for Luke since he single-handedly restored the Jedi Order. zaphod
Well books, games whatever. MY poll (which is loosely what this thread is based on) has only characters from the movies... So pick from there. Otherwise, you might as well say Captain Kirk... (that is a different matter in fact :D) so there.

Don't mean to nitpick and I really don't care, but Anakin/Darth Vader is also in all six movies. However his part is not consistently well-acted. However his part is not consistently well-acted. Yes, you'll notice the conjunction and in my original statement; it wasn't accidental. While James Earl Jones did a great job with the voice of DV in IV/V/VI, neither of the other two actors who played Annakin gave better than rebel-fighter-pilot-extra quality acting. Of course Obi-wan is dead in 2 of them. Yoda is alive in/during all of the movies, he just doesn't make an appearance in ANH.
