hater dave
I've never played Warlord or any other game, I have always just collected and painted off and on over the years. Warlord looks interesting and I think I will pick up the book soon but I was wondering about some of the characters and monsters. Can monsters fight for any faction? I like a variety of monsters I want to make sure I can use them in the game examples: Owlbear Chimera Wereshark Wereboar (Were-anything really I like em all) Hounds of Judgement Astral Maulers Genies what about the Bathalians? (some of my favorite minis) sorry for all the questions any info would be greatly apprecated for this new guy
wildbill
Welcome to Warlord! As far as can monsters fight for any faction, the answer to that is yes and no. If you get the book and look at the various army lists, you will notice that some are listed as good, evil, or neutral. You are allowed to mix and match troops from various armies so long as the alignment match. For example: you can have a good monster from one army go with neutral troops from another. So, that means the possible match-ups are: good-good, good-neutral, neutral-neutral, neutral-evil, and Evel Knevel, uh, evil-evil. Hopefully this helps answer some of your questions! Reaperbryan
Each army has a roster, so most players will field armies made from either 1) their specific Roster (all Crusaders, all Reven, etc.) or 2) a mixture of multiple Rosters (Crusader Warriors, Reven Archers, Lupine Ragers, etc.) There is a generic card in the back of the book so you can field monsters we haven't released, or aren;t planning on releaseing yet (As Far As I Know no faction is getting Owlbears, Chimera, Were-anything, Genies, or Astral Maulers). So you can take the Generic Monster Card, add and subtract Special ABilities, Adjust certain Stats, and have a home-brew Warlord Monster. Bear in mind that making a homebrew means you lose all Faction Specific Army Special Abilities.
Castlebuilder
Can monsters fight for any faction? I like a variety of monsters I want to make sure I can use them in the game Welcome to the gaming side of the hobby. The answer to your question kind of depends on who you play with. While not legal for the three big tournaments, if you local crew doesn't care, it's all good. If possible, it is best to simply substitute the mini you like for the stats already in an army list. Otherwise, try to use logical connections for why that beast if fighting for a certain faction. Castlebuilder
