[i'm not sure where you all are, but Wallace drops by to check on his application for the engineer's job. I'll assume he's standing at the foot of the boarding ramp or something.]

Chief Petty Officer Barnes Wallace, FSB Navy, retired, stood by the comm unit waiting for a responce from his call to Sira, first officer of the free trader Wanderlust. He stood at parade rest in his best 'suit', a charcoal grey affair with black stripes down the outside of the leg and arms.

At his feet is a large duffle bag with 'CPO WALLACE, B.' stenciled on the outside. After waiting a few minutes, he picks up his bag and begins to walk away. His actions are slightly strained and tense.

"Wallace, hey, wait..." Nick comes flying down the ramp.

"Sorry, didn't expect you quite that fast, I was just.... well never mind that, the Captain would like to have a few minutes of your time, if you are available.  Please come aboard while I let him know you are here."

She steps to the intercom, "JASE, locate the Captain, inform him I have Wallace here.  Copy to Arn and Sira as well."

"If you would follow me please."  Nick leads him up to the bridge, hopefully finding the Captain there.

Wallace re-slings his duffle over his shoulder and walks up the boarding ramp after the crewperson who'd called his name.

He follows the woman through twisting corridors and passageways. As he does so, he makes a mental note of the lack of crew in the corridors and also casts an experienced eye over the bulkheads, the hatchways and the decks.

"Hmm, not bad for amateurs. But they definately need someone to take care of this stuff full time. I wonder what state their engines are in..."

Joshua smiles a greeting.

"Wallace right?"

Joshua is not overly tall or impressively muscled, he has allegedly prematurely greying hair and a slightly weathered face that could be anywhere upwards of about 27. At the moment his hair goes back into a short ponytail and he could be growing a goatee... maybe. At any rate, he seems at ease and in control.... even when he isn't. He offers Wallace a hand. Noticing Wallaces critical eye, he winces.

"We've been running a skeleton crew, emphasis on running. I'm your captain, but I'm more of a long-haul spacer than anything. This here is Sira; she's commended you to me, and as a result, you're hired. Doubtless you'll be keen on getting the ship in some sort of order, so let us show you around a bit. We have quite a number of possible jobs lined up. Tell me, what do you prefer, safety or speed?"

Sira is a tall human female with waist legnth golden blonde hair. Her eyes are a pale to light blue, she is very attractive. She has a "air" about her like one used to moving about in higher social circles, she is very confident in her walk and how she stands. She is wearing a black jumpsuit, with a long red sleeveless over coat over. She will smile at wallace and give him a firm hand shake, saying it's nice to see him again.

Sira smiles "Do you want me to 'tag' along, Captain?" She asks Joshua " Or should I let you guys talk 'shop'. After all I know I can contribute nothing to a conversation on engines. She ends with a chuckle. "And I do have some things I would like to see to, before we leave on that job."

Wallace cuts a fine image of the perfect lifer, his chin is shaved blue and his hair is 'high and tight'. His dark grey eyes have a glint in them and his shoulders visibly lower as he walks through the Wanderlust, almost as if he's finally allowed himself to calm down, from what you don't know.

Wallace does project an air of immence calm about him, and he looks as if he could walk through an explosively decompressing compartment without being mussed. His manner is obviously military, yet he doesn't have the flamboyance of an officer but the long practiced professionalism and grit of a senior non-commissioned officer.

Upon being presented to the Captain, Wallace drops his duffle on the deck (which makes a slight 'clang' sound as it hits) and stands at attention. When Joshua offers his hand, Wallace's own beings to rise to his brow in a salute, but then he smiles sheepishly and redirect his hand to the captain's.

"If you don't mind Captain, I'd like to get changed first. I make it a point to not enter any engineering space in rig I'm not happy to soil." Says Wallace, still at attention (since he wasn't told to stand at ease). "And please, I prefer to be addressed as Chief, although far be it from me to tell an officer how to address anyone."

Upon hearing Sira ask her question Wallace turns his head (nothing else) to face her. "Can I take that to mean you do not have a heavily engineering background Commander?"

Sira gives a lop-sided grin "No, hardly any. I kind of "fell" into this position by default. I have no miliatary training at all, my skill lie more in deplomacy."

"Fair enough Commander." Replies Wallace. "However, should you wish to 'get your hands' dirty, then by all means look me up. It never hurts to have some engineering skills, even if it's just running diagnostics and other general maintenaince jobs."

Wallace then turns back to Joshua. "If you don't object Sir, I'll meet you on the bridge in fifteen minutes."

"Well, Chief Wallace, I guess I will show you to your quarters, they are on my way.  I am Doctor Green, usually we don't stand on formalities, call me Nick.  I have the navigation slot on the crew, not the medical one."

The petite brunette who led you up to the bridge finally introduces herself.  She is wearing dark colors, yes at closer look, they don't quite match, they are close, but the tunic, pants and boots are all a different color.  She is obviously color coordinated challenged.  Her wire rimmed glasses give her bookish owly sort of eyes, large and grey.  She has a easy smile on her face, but a distant look in her eye, as if she was mentally calculating the derivitave of trig functions on a spherical surface with an unknown number of unknowns.

She waits inside the room, until Wallace is ready and Joshua is finished.

Sira, smiles as she watches Nick lead Wallace to his room. Turning to Joshua, she says "Well, I am going to get going. I need to change before I head out." She looks down at what she is wearing, "this is way to formal for where I am going." Turning, she heads back to her room, humming as she goes.

Sira pauses a step, turns he head to look back at Joshu a sly smile on her face as she winks and says "Gee thanks. I am going to a local club, the Run, if you want to stop by later." And with that she continues on her way.

"Thanks for showing me the way Lieutenant, erm... Nick" Wallace corrects himself as he waves goodbye to Nick at the door to his quarters. "I'll see you around."

Wallace walks into his room, noting that his ID scan already opens the door. In the middle of the room is his packing crate, and he opens it as soon as he has dumped his duffle on the bunk.

He spends about 5 minutes rumaging through the crate looking for his duty clothes and, having found them, he changes quickly. When he's finished he quickly looks in the mirror to make sure he's not missed anything, and after a slight pause he decides not to remove his Master Chief's insignia from his uniform. "Time to go to work." He says to himself as he walks out.

Wallace arrives back on the bridge with three minutes to spare. He is now dressed in slightly off white overalls, the same ones he wore for years in the Navy (Master Chief's insignia on the shoulders and Star Drive specialist insignia on the upper arms) and it looks it. There are some grease spots on it, stubborn ones and fresh ones alike. One breast pocket is ragged and hanging on by a few threads while the other one looks heavily used. His boots look dull but well taken care of, aside from the large knick from the leather of the left toe.

Around his waist is a tool belt. From the left around the back, are tools of various kinds. Again the tools look well used and cared for, but not especially clean. At his right hip is a quick release clip hanging below the belt, and in front and behind are general purpose pouches, the rearward one larger and with a flap which is used to close it and the forward one open topped but smaller. Poking out of the foreward pouch is a set of combined safety glasses/ear protectors.

"Ready when you are Captain." Says Wallace, again standing at attention, his back ramrod straight and his hands along the seams of his trousers. "Wonder if the intercom will interface with my head-ware. Looks like it should, but best to test before going aloft."

Wallace hears a low chuckle from behind him, if he turns he see Sira standing in the doorway. No longer looking like someone who could pass as a diplomate though. Gone are the "nice' clothes. Decked out with tight black low cut hip huggin  pants and a tight black mid-drift baring top. The only thing still the same is the long red vest like coat she had on earlier. Her hair is styled in the current fashion seen in the club scene, with streaks of color added in here and there. Still smiling she says "We have got to teach you to relax a bit." The looking up at Joshua, a wicked gleam in her eyes. " Let Nick know I will be out for a bit. I will stop by and see what she wants when I get back." and with that she winks at Joshua and heads for the door.

"Perhaps Commander. I'd ask for a little leeway. Afterall, I only recently left military service." Says Wallace as he smiles a little. "Nice rig Ma'am. Going undercover?"

Wallace then turns back to the Captain. "Sir, I think it might be prudent if we start with the Bridge engineering station. Would you mind pointing it out sir?"
