Saint of Sinners
i realy don't want to take only a half army saint yeah... that's cute... Just remember it'll only take a half army to beat down anything you bring to the table.

BoneLord
Good Readin'. I'm new too. I have a friend who will be playing Necro, and his brother will be Mercs. I need a good aligned army so we can play a balanced campaign. We already have some crusader figs, but I'm not sure I really like crusaders. Sooo...Elves or Dwarves? Based off the mini-skirmish I played with the figs in the starting box, it seemed like magic pwns in this game. I imagine elves are better at magic, but they seem so fragile....and while dwarves are pretty tough, they are slow and I still don't know anyhting about their magic. On neutral races: I read Reven (the lizardmen?) are fast and tough, but what are their point costs and magic like? Or the orcs (I hope they're not reven ) Neksofar looked so goofy I didn't even read their fluff. How do they play, though?

Castlebuilder
Bone Lord, It sounds like you are on track with picking an army. The Elves are very weak defensively, but their archers and speed are a royal pain to deal with. Two big advantages of the Dwarves are effective archers and their faction special of Bane. Crusaders big advantage is in lots of Clerics and they are soon to have effective cavalry. Both the Dwarves and Crusaders have a good mage, although now the Crusaders have two other options for mages too. The Reven/Orcs are a great army if you like to melee. Bull Orcs defense is decent and few armies hit as hard as the Orcs do. They also have tough on most figs. Goblins and lesser Orcs add creative options....... The biggest point is to pick a faction that fits you style and has fluff you like. If you not sure, keep asking questions. We all love to brag about our favorite factions...... wildbill
....and while dwarves are pretty tough, they are slow and I still don't know anyhting about their magic. I'm assuming you must be coming from the GW school of thought on Dwarves. Not that is bad! I came from there myself. Then, when I ACTUALLY saw them in action, WOW!! Here in Tulsa, we call Dwarves the New Cheetahs. My swiftaxes have a base movement of 5 inches. With a musician, they get to move an additional 2 inches thanks to a Dwarven special ability. That totals 7. Now, a charge will grant you an additional 2 inches. That brings us to 9 inches. The swiftaxes also have a special ability that gives them an ADDITIONAL 2 inches on a charge. That provides a grand total of 11 inches!! There aren't too many units in the game that can charge faster than that. It's pretty sweet. Yes, they are tough. I played a 1,000 point battle against the Elves last night. Normally I get shot up before I even make it halfway across the board. But, the dice gawds (ALL HAIL THE DICE GAWDS! ) showered me with favors so I was able to do really well. Of course, I'm not biased towards Dwarves at all. None what so ever. Qwyksilver
There aren't too many units in the game that can charge faster than that. It's pretty sweet. My Bull Orc Berserkers can charge 12 inches without any modifications I have several more models that can charge at least 10+ inches with a Musician in the troop. Stubby little slow pokes. BoneLord
I think it was the Reptus that I wanted to know about. I wanted something that could be good, and it's hard to think of orcs as good, even if they are technically "neutral."

Oddly, the Nercos have the same thought
BoneLord
Maybe dwarf and reptus? I kind of like them both....now I'd better start saving some money 'cause I wanted to invest in CAV too!
