mooseyjoe
That's the best reason to have children. You can start your own gaming group." God I hope she's not serious... My dad got me into warlord. He started playing with some folks and I tagged along. Now I'm the one who has to drag him along so that I can get in enough games. Brushmaster
My wife actually likes my son playing Warlord because of the d10 system and the maths involvement . She thinks it great the he has to work on addition and subtraction to figure things out . Only problem is that I have to paint his minis . mooseyjoe
I painted all of mine and now paint some of his. But I am a bit old to get much help out of d10 math practice. Now it wouldn't hurt for me to brush up on some of those old trig skills and make myself a bunch of probability charts and other numbery jibberish that worked off of the d10 system. MrMoose
An appropriate first post! I'm about to get into it, when I get home on Monday. At least, if all goes right. I blame roe_games. That store in Havelock is getting me into soooo many games. Warlord, hopefully, will last me awhile! Thankfully, I'm off at school down here in Pembroke for 2/3rds of the year, so I can try to avoid buying stuff somewhat.
warlordgarou
Mine is simple and prosaic. I was already doing demos of CAV at my FLGS, and I noticed the Warlord figs. I picked up a few because they looked kewl, then noticed that there was actually a game (then still in beta) to go with them. I've been slowly accumulating them ever since. Redfeild
My wife actually likes my son playing Warlord because of the d10 system and the maths involvement . She thinks it great the he has to work on addition and subtraction to figure things out . Only problem is that I have to paint his minis . This was the reason my parrents got me the old D&D Red box set. My math skills did not get much better but I became a vorasious reader for quite a while. drjsallison
I love painting minis and the Warlord minis are about the best there are. As far as mini wargames go, I am not a fan of bigger and badder and more expensive wargames. Granted, Warlord is not the cheapest in the world, I feel like I don't have to worry about an orc showing up with a rocket launcher or each faction getting anything that is rediculously overpowering that renders new players completely useless. The RAGE system is the best I have seen as it keeps things simple and allows for all kinds of adjustments based on the needs of each group while maintaining a core base that has continuous active Ratings online and Balance of Power. Oh, yeah. No Company can even come close to being as consumer friendly as the reaper peeps. Best Forum, Best game support, Best Customer service and by far, the best minis in the world. wildbill
You want to know why I got in? Well, almost a year ago, I had just moved to Tulsa, OK. I knew of a local shop here called Top Deck Games that hosted Magic the Gathering tournaments. (Bear with me a sec! ) I just happened to show up on a Thursday when two gentlemen were trying to figure out how to play this miniature game. I stopped by their table and was like "What is that? Warhammer skirmish?". I had played Warhammer for years and still own three armies. (Boo! Hiss! I know I'm evil. ) They told me about Warlord and I watched their game progress. I was totally hooked by the fact that each individual model could do its own thing without having to march around in formation. Plus, with all of the special abilities and the flexibility of your turns (I'll move, shoot, move someone else, attack, cast a heal spell, done!) it was really intriguing! I bought a copy of the rule book right then and I've been hooked ever since! Wild Bill
Qwyksilver
! I bought a copy of the rule book right then and I've been hooked ever since! Of course, he chose to play Dwarves, so it only needed a wee little hook
wildbill
One of these years Qwyk we're going to have to figure out how to hook up for a game and then I'll show just how tough my wee Dwarven hook really is!! Wild Bill
