SA Healer

Has there been any official word from the reaper-peeps about what the SA Healer on the Hospitlers does? I have been scanning the board but haven't seen anything yet. ::(:

hmmm...bonus to cast spells that heal? It would allow for a Cleric that has a reasonably consistent chance to heal without having to give them a high CP.

I had originally hoped these guys would have Innate: Bandage, but I was wrong. It could be any number of things, but some sort of Toughness roll bonus, or granting nearby models Toughness sounds most logical to me from a game mechanic ( I think that is a pretty good call on your part Arbiter, I hope you're correct).

 

I doubt anyone in the playtest group will let it slip, so we'll have to wait to hear from Bryan, or until the book comes out.

It was my immediate assumption that they would have Innate: Bandage. But when I thought about it, to have this, they wouldn't need a new ability called "Healer"; they would just need to have "Innate: Bandage" ::P:. I was really hoping that they would have had Bandage it as an innate; that would have been really sweet. Not too cheesy either, as long as they had a relatively high point cost. Plus, Bandage only works on models that have Tough or more than one damage track, so it's not like they'd be healing up grunts.

 

But who knows... maybe Healer will be some really kickin' ability and grant Innate: Bandage along with a bonus to Tough checks or some other bonus. I'm giving Reaper the benefit of the doubt because I haven't been disappointed yet with anything that's come out.

Most basic warrior grunts have Tough. Even the Elven Warriors are Tough/1.

Innate Bandage would be VERY useful.

 

Fortunately, I think they are Adept IIRC, so they can't drop one in EVERY troop.

Arbiter, my assumption about them having Innate: Bandage was made long before the model or datacard was released, all I knew was there was a model called Hospitlers (I didn't know if they were characters, grunts, solos or what).

 

I've been pondering the 'Healer', but I think your notion of granting a bonus to toughness rolls, or giving non-Tough models a toughness roll is the most solid guess I've seen. Perhaps multiple Healer stack, so having 1 might give you +1 Tough, and having 3 might give you +3. Now I'm getting excited about the idea of Tough/4 Templar Warriors...and it's all heresay.

For now, Use Healer as if the text were:

"Innate: Bandage - Modified so that the range is 0" (Target Model must be in base to base contact with the Hospitalier)"

 

As with other innate spells, it is cast at default CP is no CP is given (And they have no CP, so there you have it).

 

This isn't perfect, but it's close enough unitl the book releases.
