Jubilee
Hello everyone! Some of you have probably already seen this from following the link on my tanned flesh tutorial, but since Wolfers has (finally) received this miniature, I can post "official" show off pics. :) She's painted with all RMS paints, and the decals are from Ginfritters Gnomish Workshop - very cool products! - It's been killing me because I had her painted for about 2 weeks before I finally got the assignment to send a mini to Wolfers! Then, he had to go and be living in Canada, so it took a week and a half or so for the darned thing to arrive... Anyway, here she is: The darklining is a little rough in places, but otherwise I'm fairly happy with how she turned out. :) I think the hair is the best I've managed so far.. haldir
nice colors, they really blend in well together also the decals are great as well, they too work well into the figure. Do they have website?? Great work as usual, Wolfers will be proud of that one. RM
twjolson
Nice job, that is my favorite painting of this mini so far, and that's saying alot for how popular this mini is.
eastman
The skin, hair and cloth are very well done. The darklining looks a bit too heavy to me (this usually looks worse in the pictures than it does in real life), overall she looks great. I think that anyone would be pleased to receive a mini like this.
Artists Wren Posted January 5, 2006 Artists Share Posted January 5, 2006 I really like this, it is the most wow! of your work I've seen so far (though I'm way behind on mini forums, so might have missed some of your other new stuff.) The skin is super, and I also really like the hair. The blue-violet and reddish elements just really work for me. Also the tiny bright blue touch of the jewel in her neckpiece is very nice. The soft eye makeup is very nicely done. The shading on the dress of the torso seems a little too dark, as does the blacklining against the white parts. Wolfers
I thought I would add my two cents. This mini is amazing! I mean I could not have asked for a better mini in the exchange. I must thank Jubilee for stepping up to the plate and sending me this. In fact I am kind of glad that my original mini exchange person never sent me a mini. :) Anyway, kudos to Jubilee, you rock Girl!
JoeGKushner
The dark lining on the white looks very effective. Is that thinned out black or one of the liners?
Stern Kestrelmann
Nice work. The skin tones are sweet. I've never cared for this sculpt, but you done a nice version of her. Rock on. SK
Jubilee
Thanks to everyone for all your kind words & supportive-ness. :) I really do appreciate it. With regards to the decals - Ginfritter's does have a website, found here. The dark lining was done with thinned brown liner from the RMS. The white makes it look alot starker than it usually does - it's definately something to learn from for the future. /ali
Spike
I think that might be the most convincing non-satin-satin I have ever seen. The hair is pretty also. You must've used a dozen colours to get all those realistic highlights on her hair.
Grumb
Beautiful job Ali. I agree with you about the blacklining, especially on the leg. Her skintones and hair are great. Very nice face, and is that eyeshadow she's wearing? Very nice work! Cheers, Grumb
Krztoff
That is really one fantastic paintjob. The hair, the skin, the makeup, all of it. Of all your work, it's definately my favorite.
drjsallison
All I can say is ..WOW!!! You seem to pick alot of minis I don't care for and turn them into masterpieces that make me green with envy. You are definately one of the artists I seek to emulate and always love seeing Reaper minis painted by you hand. Keep em coming. Do you have a how to posted anywhere on how you paint your minis? Jubilee
Thanks again everyone! @drjallison- I have two flesh tutorials out there - one using the dark flesh triad on a Hasslefree nubian and one using tanned flesh & Laurana. The dark flesh one has some blurry pictures, but you can find it here: http://www.spiritone.com/~devo/darkflesh.html. The tanned flesh one will be added to my webpage soon, but in the meantime you can find it hosted on the Ordo Fanaticus website here: http://www.ordofanaticus.com/modules.php?n...order=0&thold=0. Painting the rest is like painting the flesh, but with different colors.. :) People often tell me that I make crappy minis look good, and I don't understand why I always seem to like the miniatures that others think are crappy. I think Laurana is charming. :) /ali
