Calander pictures and others

One of the things I use for back drops, when I want to make a "scene" is calander pictures or pictures from magazines (like I did with the Deathsleet one) They work very well when done right. here are a couple of links with calnder pictures I have used.

undead lizard This one is a wingless undead dragon. I used a forest scene here. By lucky chance the amera flash went of at just the right spot. It now looks like the sun is streaming throung the tress behind this guy. A few large rocks to hide edges or things that would have  looked out os scale complete the scene.

bronze  this one is a bronze dragon. There are things I could have donw to make it better, but didn't "catch" til after I saw how the picture came out. A few more dark rocks around the girls and the dragon would have hidden the water line better. This picture is from a tropical beach calander. I also should have moved the dragon out further as you can see his shadow on the background. But it was also the only one that came out in focu, so I used it for now.

brass This isn't a calander back drop. It was from a set of toy animals I got. Thought it would work well for taking pictures of small model horses and my miniatures. In this picture are some of my "decorative rocks, part of a "ruined" wall (Bought from the pet store) and a tree from a railroad set up.. I have more, you can always check them out on my web page if you want.

She and the dragon are part of the Dragon of the month Series II put out by Grendadier back in the 80's. I got all of the Chromatic and Metallic ones that coincided with the dragons in the monster manuals. Each dragon had a "companion" that came with them. The Bronze had her, The black an elf soreceress, copper an "gnomish" looking wizard/rider, and so forth.

Nice pictures!  My attempts at mini photography have been unsatisfying at best.  :(   I like the backdrops, much nicer than looking at the usual oddball stuff you see in a lot of photos.  I sometimes spend more time puzzling out the background "noise" than I do looking at the mini!  :D

try cheap greeting cards, can get some interesting scenery sometimes

or even a cheap book of paintings....

oh and the links were dead when I tried them, so I can't swoon about how realistic they look... :D

try again and add a space at the end of the URL. Anytime anyone on the boards uses GOEcities you have to add a sapce at the end of the URL. When I add the space the URL won't work, so you have to hit it after it comes up with the error message.

Thank you. My dragon collection is quite extensive, though not all are painted. There are very few dragons that I have seen that I don't like! I am trying to get them painted but they take time. If I can ever get some space cleared off on my painting table I will put T'char together and get him painted.

Alright, for all you oriental lovers out there, found some real cool Pagoda's at Petsmart today. They only had two of the several pictured, but some of them look really nice! Got the pagoda with the gold foo dogs at each corner. Will look great behind the oriental figs I hope to paint up soon.

I like the Bronze and Brass beauties.  I had a few in that series, my favorite was the Forest Dragon, without wings but having a Unicorn Horn.

I have to second the call for looking at Petsmart.  They sell some of the Terrarium and Aquarium furniture cheap with little chips or breaks and they are easy to fix.  Also, I saw some Mesoamerican style ruins that I really want to have.
