Couple questions came up

As it says, during my game last night, I had a couple questions come up.

1. We had some hedges and stone walls on the board. No biggie for cover, LOS etc.. But we couldn't figure out where they fell in the movement cost modifier chart. The best we could come up with was basically the opposite of a ditch so we charged standard bases 2x move to cross it.

Was this correct? Since they were basically 1" wide we just said, ok, it take an extra 1" to jump the fence. Some clarification on this would be great.

2. We ended up with 2 models in 2 units. He had 1 and I had 1. Mine was a Sergeant, his was an archer adept. Neither had Ronin.

Both were auto shaken. If I read the rules correctly. So both basically have -2 dV and cannot get rid of it unless they regroup with another unit.

So the questions that arose:

a. Can the sergeant regroup with another unit? Or is she stuck shaken?

Re-reading the rules it says only leaderless models can regroup. So she is kind of stuck unless another unit losses their leader, this sergeant could then regroup them with her, up to her troop max? is that correct?

And then she would need to take a rally action to remove the shaken.

b. We couldn't find any other issues with a model being shaken other than the -2dv? Is that correct? he was running his full 7" and still shooting his bow the full 30" with deadly accuracy. Seems like there should be some penalty but we couldn't find any. Had to eventually run him down to kill him.

c. There was another lone model left from a unit that did have ronin. It was Lysette. Since she is Ronin, she never had to worry about the shaken so did not have to bother with regrouping. But it brought up a question on the elite. Can an Elite regroup with a unit that the leader does not have an elite slot?

Ok, just re-read the rule on this one, the elite slots are still counted. So an elite could only be absorbed into a unit where the leader has an elite slot open. Either unused or the previous elite has already been killed.

Very few rules problems arose during this game and we have still played less than half a dozen. So really good rule set overall.

There is no hard and fast rule about how you play this particular piece. This is when discussing and agreeing on terrain before a game is important. Usually, when we play, we charge a model an additional inch to hop a low wall or hedge. Depending on how wide it is, you could also allow models to stand on top, to get the bonuses for fighting from elevation.

Sarge is out of luck unless a leader of another troop falls, and then the Sarge could regroup those troops. If you're shaken from All Alone, you cannot lose that token unless you are regrouped, or dead. You played it correctly.

b. We couldn't find any other issues with a model being shaken other than the -2dv? Is that correct? he was running his full 7" and still shooting his bow the full 30" with deadly accuracy. -2 DV is the only immediate penalty for being Shaken. You also run the risk of the potential for being forced to retreat, on the rare occasions that it happens.

You already answered your own question :;):

we play it as the extra inch penalty comes from having to go up an elevation. So needles to say if it's solid and wide anough to stand on you get the bonus, though this has only come up once. sorry if it seams like i was just repeating what was already said but i thort you mite like a bit more reason than "it works" ^_^

Here is Reaper's answer here under Obstacles (like walls) and Movement. It is simple and works well.

Where are you getting the Shaken = DV -2? Are you just reversing the rule? Pg 53 of the Rulebook "Shaken ... Any enemy model that attacks a Shaken Model gains a +2 to its Dice Rolls."

I can't pinpoint the source, but it has been discussed. A leader must comply to troop size rules, so all limits apply including commanding elites.

There's a huge difference between +2 to dice rolls and -2 DV. For instance, a spell will hit much easier as well - it's a +2 on *any* die rolls due to enemy offensives.
