Erion
Can we get spell and equipment cards via Swag, or are they only available in the Deluxe Starter?
Qwyksilver
Spell and Equipment cards are not available via Swag. You need to either purchase the Deluxe boxes, or download and print them from Warlord HQ.
drjsallison
Don't take this for a fact, but I believe they can be purchased at ReaperCon at the Asylum buyt CANNOT be ordered. Come in person or go away empty handed.
Kengar
I've never understood that. I can (sort of) understand not giving the S & E cards out for SWAG points, but why not have them available for sale online by the pack (say $5-10 for the set)? I'd love to hear what a Reaper rep has to say on this.
Erion
Indeed. If you're going to sell them at the con, at least let the rest of us who can't make it buy packs of them online during the time the con is running, like you do with the Reapercon special edition models. Vil-hatarn
Oops...I just sent off a swag order with 30-40 spell and equipment cards...they'll probably just send back the spare points...

Qwyksilver
Just to hazard a guess: It gives people a reason to buy the Deluxe Box sets. Reaper, as much as they are phenomenal about customer service and give us just about everything, is still a business, and they need to make sure there is something to motivate you to purchase the nice big box. As it is, you can already purchase every other component of the Deluxe Box Set individually. There needs to be some carrot for you to pick one up. They are already available for free on Warlord HQ. Just the fact that they even do this for any of the data cards is pretty amazing, IMHO. Not to mention S/E cards are not required for game play. Erion
So, I should shell out $70 for a box that includes paints I won't use (I prefer Vallejo) and a book I already have to get $5 worth of spell and equipment cards? If that's the carrot they're using, it's all brown and wrinkly.
Kengar
Perhaps, QS. It just seems to me that there are other reasons to buy the box sets, depending on what you want. The box sets are for getting started in the game and/or a particular faction. You get a better deal per figure on the lead, plus faction book, plus some nice paints. In the case of the Deluxe starter box you're getting two factions and the rules (all you need to play). Does everyone who wants the S&E cards want all that? No, but if all I want are the cards and I won't spend $70 on the rest to get them, I might spend $10 to buy them separately. I'm no business expert, so you may have the right of it over me, but it seems that Reaper customers buy a lot of small package stuff (blisters, single or triads of paints, etc.), so offering the S&E cards as a pack on their own would fit the current business model. Mostly, I'm just curious what Reaper has to say about it. Just my $0.02.
Arbiter10
Actually, I thought the deep discounts were the "carrots" for buying the Deluxe Boxed sets. The Deluxe Starter Box has over $100 worth of stuff in it; the Deluxe Army Boxes have about $90 in them. And they all retail for $70. Qwyksilver
Jeez, I didn't say it was the ONLY reason to buy the deluxe sets, just one of them. But, honestly, I bought the deluxe Crusader set recently, instead of buying it all piecemeal because it would save me a couple bucks, plus I'd get the spell cards. I already had a Broderick. I already had all the paints in the set, though extra paints never hurt. I wanted the book and the cards, getting the extra models I could use, at a discount, was just extra. I was lobbying hard when the Reven Deluxe set came out for getting the Spell and Equipment Cards for sale individually. To the point, I think Bryan was contemplating mailing me an explosive device I had all the models I needed, I already had the book (actually two copies of it - Gen Con Sneak Peak and Final Copy), the only thing I wanted from it was the Cards. If they weren't already available, for Free, online to download, I'd say there would definitely be a better argument for selling them in the Asylum. But, they are free and very easy to print out on card stock. And it will cost you a lot less to print them. I also never said it would be a bad idea to sell the cards as packs. I said I was guessing at a reason.
Arbiter10
Hey, Qwyk, sorry if it sounded like I was jumping on you, getting snarky, being overly-critical, etc. I sincerely was not trying to do any of these things. I was just trying to throw an idea out there. Guess I should practice my smiley-fu some more.
drjsallison
IIRC, The cards are mfg. for the deluxe box set only. They never intended to have them available for general sale. The reason they have them available at the con is probably because they pretty much let you buy anything (I got GE's soul for a great price) at ReaperCon. They go all out for the Con. If that means parting with a few extra spell and equipment decks, then so be it. They are available online and very easily printed on regulat thin cardstock. (there are no backs to these so printing is super easy).
