Mastertickles
Lookin' pretty good! I really like the giant tick too! Now that you're coming along, you may want to start focusing on your surfacing techniques. Once you block in the basic musculature you can go back and add surface details and smoothing either before baking or adding another layer of "skin" and then adding textures and such. Righ now, the closeups of the abdomen show distinct cut marks from the tool and give it away as clay. If you go back and soften the edges of these areas it wil make it more "fleshy" Have a look at Smellybug's Face sculpt tutorial. He shows the process of resurfacing the fleshy areas, cutting textures in and then re-working that area until the folds, wrinkles and creases are fleshy smooth. Hope that helps! As for fur, because of the size, you can get some really nice texture using greenstuff. Again, you could do it with sculpey but after shaping the texture with your tool, go back with a soft brush and a little 91% alcohol and smooth the surface a bit. It will give a very realistic fur appearance. Thanks I'm glad you like my stuff so far(I really like your stuff on your site very cool!) Anyway I will look at the link and do the flesh detail. I tried making the sculpy fur more detailed but it got kinda clumpy I forgot about the alcohol! I will try that if i do fur is sculpy again. Thanks! Hmmm i gotta figure out how to fix mine....
Almathea Toes
I think you should add fur to the upper back of the model. In my mind it looks a bit odd that he's all hairy on the front, but not on the back.

I don't usually laugh out loud when I read stuff, but I nearly died when I read that. Thanks for cheering me up. NOW BACK TO WORK!!!!! I am so curious to see how this guy comes out. I want him finished, cast, and on my list of "stuff that I might hopefully get around to painting some day". He is pretty sweet. Are you still doing the multiple heads? I would like to see a Cyclops head on this big boy if at all possible. good work so far, O hairy-backed master of putty.

omnicrondelicious
Ya know MT, I'm impressed at how well you handle feedback and criticism. The ability to listen, and to be able to filter out the good feedback from the poor, are probably almost as important skills as say, hand control or anatomy. Keep up the good work. Yeah, I've often thought the same thing. You take criticism as well as you do praise. And yes, that's probably why you're as good as you are. Naughty Tentacle Monster
Stop changing him! Why do you toy with our souls like this?! The piercings are a nice touch though... -NTM
Darin W
I say change him all you want! As long as you're happy with your sculpt, right on! Did you create a drawing or sketch at the beginning? I find that working out facial expressions and overall proportions on paper is faster, and less stressful, than reworking it after sculpting. I use a mirror for reference when sketching faces. And yes... my face is already somewhat troll-like, so half my work is done before I start!
