Bill_Adcock
I love my pocketknives. I have two, both bought the same day at this store in Hawaii that sold Scrimshaw done by native artists. The first one's about an inch and a half long, folded up, with a teensy little blade and a shark etched on one side of the handle. The second is about three inches, folded up, with a two-inch blade and a 1800s-style sailing ship and a Hawaiian petroglyph etched on one side of the handle. CuCulain42
Ok , so that's a cute little thing, is it heavy enough to throw well? j/k See this is where the redneck in me come out, I carry a leatherman or a gerber multitool depending on my mood, a little 1-1/2" lock blade and a 3" lockblade. Well, unless I'm gettin' on an airplane.

Joe Kutz
For off the shelf blades you might want to take a look at guthooks. They are used for what they sound like - slicing open the soft under belly of recently deceased animals in order to remove their internal organs... The nice thing about them is that they are designed to be very small, very precise instruments (if you ever sliced open a stomach or intenstine you would understand why you want that kind of precision). The one I keep at hand when working has a hole in the blade above the handle to hold your finger while the hook drags behind like a plow - makes short work of opening boxes and slicing through cardboard and styrene sheet. Buggeye
On 3-10-06, at 1200 hours, I, Correctional Officer Tim Stellburg (Buggeye), while searching Herr Oberfroschmeister's thread found an improvised cutting tool/weapon made from an X-acto blade. This item is contraband and as such was confiscated and placed into the evidence locker. Due to Herr Oberfroschmeister's status as a moderator, he was placed into segregation and will be recreated seperately from the general population. Qwyksilver
Oh, that was beautiful Bugeye. Having seen CO reports quoted in Foresic eval for dangerousness, beautiful Though at least in the jails around here, they usually melt a toothbrush handle slightly and insert the blade where the bristles are to make a quick and dirty slashing weapon. Moderator Froggy the Great Posted March 29, 2006 Author Moderator Share Posted March 29, 2006 Okay, I improved on the design a bit. I used wax thread and a bamboo core for this one (I made four, actually) and made haft and hilt guards out of wire. This is still the same sheath, since I ran out of webbing before I got a new design figured out. Oh, and the total tip-to-tip length is just a hair under 2" or 50mm. FeniXbane
That's pretty sweet. What? No craft stick involved??? Why do I know there's gonna be a knife made out of craft sticks and toothpicks posted later today?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted March 29, 2006 Author Moderator Share Posted March 29, 2006 Not by me, there won't.
Qwyksilver
Have you checked it's balance for throwing?
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted March 29, 2006 Author Moderator Share Posted March 29, 2006 Balance point is 2 threads below the hilt. I doubt it's heavy enough to throw anyway.
Paintrix
If you weren't aware, you can buy disposable pocket scapels by the box (I used to get 'em from a veteranarian supply guy on eBay but need to find another source). A little harder to find than the full-size ones, unfortunately, but very handy. They're 2.5"-3" long with handle, come with hard plastic blade covers, and are available in different blade shapes (I have #11s for throwaway travel knives, #12s to use as seam rippers--some fabric stores have started reselling them at an insane markup). I must say they do not look nearly as cool as what you've made.
Hells_Clown
I own a couple but they're big Swiss Army types. I need a little one. If you're serious about looking for a new SAK, this site has been good to me in the past. Check out the Cadet. I carry one all the time, it's small and handy to have around. Inexpensive too.
