pae
Here's the figure I painted for the Wyrd-Games Femme Fatale contest. Since I submitted it for the contest, I made a few slight modifications, primarily the addition of the tattoo on the leg, some additional shading on the hair, and some touch-ups on the firey crystal thing. I know many of you have already commented on this over on the Wyrd Games site, and I appreciate it greatly. So who recognized this one as mine? Oh yeah...this one is up for auction. keshley
I did because of the moss... which is your trademark there, he he he.... Great job, flyn. The blade on the sword is fantastic adn the green is to die for. Blonde hair looks great too! Dunno about the green nails though. Look forward to seeing her this Saturday. ixminis
I like the different approach to the gem vs the traditional quartzish crystallish flava. Yah, the moss kinda gives it away, but then again yer getting a higher level of contrast with each of your minis. Always nice to see yer stuff
pae
I really need to do something about my bases, as they were pretty good for the level of painting I was doing a couple of years ago, but now I think they might be the weakest part now. With this one, I was trying to get away from my traditional earthtones, and intentionally tried to avoid using brown. I broke down for the leather bits, though. I was also going for alot of contrast, which I know I used to have alot of trouble with. I'm beginning to push it a bit more, finally. Thanks for the comments... Lili, I will definitely have her on hand Saturday, but the stuff I'm working on for ReaperCon will be staying home, I think. I'm not sure what I'll actually paint on Saturday, though. I'm not sure what I'll actually paint on Saturday, though. I hear you. Base is also my weakest point right now. Oh and I also don't know what I'm gonna paint this Saturday. Maybe Alastriel ... I'm "stealing" EricJ monotone OSL effect that he did for Wyrd Miniature Ramos --- Eric if you read this post, I hope you don't mind me copying your technique. It may not be as good as yours but I'll try my best to make it look good So flynn, see ya Saturday (and hopefully Gus and Angela, too) Cheers, Lili
Jubilee
Hey flynn, I think I liked this one better without the tatoo on the leg. The blue doesn't really tie in with the piece very well, and your flesh was so nice to begin with. Also, the little curl on the bottom looks to me like it's lifting, which makes the whole thing look a little off. It might be a trick of the light. The purple & green on her clothing is absolutely beautiful and luscious. I love it. However, I don't like the yellow sleeve puff. I think it draws the eye away from all the rest and it doesn't really mesh color-wise for me. For the grass, I'd suggest trying some basic flock to start, or maybe some static grass if you're comfortable with it. The leaves on the back of the base look windblown, it's a really neat effect. /ali

Mastertickles
Yea this was a really nice entry! I like the green and blue! nice blending and the tatto is fantastic! I wish the best luck on Ebay!
pae
Hey flynn, I think I liked this one better without the tatoo on the leg. The blue doesn't really tie in with the piece very well, and your flesh was so nice to begin with. Also, the little curl on the bottom looks to me like it's lifting, which makes the whole thing look a little off. It might be a trick of the light. Definitely a trick of the light. What you are seeing I think is the dark lining on it. I started the tattoo with brown liner, then filled it in with the blue. There's that one spot where the lining is a bit thicker than on the rest of it. Probably could have used a bit more cleanup there. I'm not so sure I like the tattoo all that much either, to be honest. The purple & green on her clothing is absolutely beautiful and luscious. I love it. However, I don't like the yellow sleeve puff. I think it draws the eye away from all the rest and it doesn't really mesh color-wise for me. You aren't alone about the sleeve puff. I've had some people tell me that it's too close in color to both the gold NMM and the hair, so it just doesn't work very well. For the grass, I'd suggest trying some basic flock to start, or maybe some static grass if you're comfortable with it. The leaves on the back of the base look windblown, it's a really neat effect. Thanks...I'm definitely going to start playing with more static grass on stuff, and use a bit less of my resin pumice paste. It's just too coarse, I think. I have some sand I'm going to start experimenting with as well. And some other nifty toys. Hopefully my bases for the ReaperCon contest will be much improved. Dancin'Debby
I'm not so sure I like the tattoo all that much either, to be honest. Hopefully my bases for the ReaperCon contest will be much improved. I think the problem with the tattoo for me is it looks more like body paint than a design tatooed into her skin. Maybe a very, very light flesh wash over the top of it to make it not stand out so much, make it more like her own skin... I really like the rest of this one... and maybe your bases for ReaperCon won't scream "Hey, flynn did this". I've always liked your pumice style bases, but they are definitely your "signature"... debby *who's REALLY jealous of Gus and Angela right about now*
slidedog
Maybe a flesh tone glaze would sink that tatoo into her skin a bit and reduce the saturation contrast? Just an idea, take it for what it's worth as I haven't done a whole lot of tats and I'm still trying to figure it out.
pae
Actually, I had glazed the tattoo with the flesh color, but then you could barely tell it was there...probably because of the color I chose. Unfortunately, I don't have the picture online anymore of what it looked like at that stage. This one definitely taught me a few things. slidedog
Yeah it would need to be really, really thin paint. I had the exact same problem last time I tried it.
pae
I've done the effect pretty well before, but the tatto in that case was a very dark blue. Light blue + flesh glaze = bad news. If this one doesn't sell on ebay, I'll probably go back and fix it.
