pogre
Hello, I was wondering if anyone around here had splurged and purchased a Samigon Internet Photo Studio for shooting minis? If you have would you mind giving a mini review? Is it worth the $? Is it much better than one of the light boxes? Thanks! Here's what I'm talking about BTW: http://www.cameratradersltd.com/html/items/item2962.htm
slidedog
Looks a bit limited to me, may not be able to hit the mini from very many different angles. I think the little soft box I mentioned in another thread would be better. I have found it very easy to work with and I can set my lights at virtually any angle, as well as using multiple light sources. Can't review this one in particular, but by the looks of it, there may be challenges.
Mad Pat
Interesting rig, though you still want a diffused light coming from the front. Mad Pat
Stubbdog
I built my light box for roughly $30 including the lights. Works great. The tutorial I used to build mine can be found here: www.dragon-miniatures.com
Spike
Here's my DIY on-the-cheap lightbox. The beauty of mine is that it's easy to build even without any fancy tools..it's big and easy to reach into..and the design can be scaled up or down depending on your need. I am working on making a second one-third-scale version to bring with me to RCon. The little foldy-uppy light tent seems great for small minis, but I would think fitting in a demon or hill giant might be a challenge. slidedog
Spike, the foldy things come in several sizes. When I got mine I went for one that's about 30 inches on a side. I can shoot darn near anything mini related, although I am finding it's almost too big. I like your DIY rig as well. I thought about doing something like that, but time is a huge premium in my life right now so I took the easy, but more expensive, way out. Your rig accomplishes the same thing and looks like a great solution.
Crusoe the Painter
I don't really use a lightbox, I have a fullsize flash with a diffuser hood. The diffuser hood does a good job of 'wrapping' the light around a fig. Now if I were photoing a draon, then I'd have to rig up some lamps.
