Reaper User Vaitalla Posted April 20, 2006 Reaper User Share Posted April 20, 2006 As Sue implied, I got stuck with the 8 a.m. slots because I didn't read my Suecrew group messages and thus had no idea class submissions were due 'till the Day Of. As usual, I might add!! Unfortunately for those of you who sleep late, I personally am a far more effective teacher the earlier in the day it is, so get ready for a Wake Up class at 8 a.m.!! Hmmm, Sue, if I bring my own card table and folding chair, can I grab a nook by the windows to set up shop, and then you can just toss people my way? I don't take up much space these days, honest, I can condense!! And pretty much I should be yours; last year booth space was at a terrific premium and there was none for me, so I'll double-check for this year but I'm honestly more effective for Reaper if I'm out talking to people, so maybe I can be a fill-in minion or something. Or maybe I'll just have to set up on a milk crate on the floor somewhere with good lighting! We can tape a "Will Paint For Margaritas" sign on the wall above my head. ;P --Homeless At The Con? Qwyksilver
I bet by the 4th or 5th mini-class, things would start getting very interesting
tzor
8AM isn't for people who get up early. It's for people who stay up late. No sane person wakes up that early, do they? Well it depends on where you are comming from since most people's internal clocks have not completely set themselves until the convention is over. If you are comming from the east then it's more 9AM ish in your head, but if you come from the west it's more 7AM ish in your head. Even in college I could never pull all-nighters. I need my sleep ... perchance to dream.
pae
When I was in grad school, I typically would go to sleep around 7AM, and wake up around 2PM. I don't think I've ever had a more productive schedule than this. Since so many people would be gone by midnight, I'd get a ton of work done from about 10PM until 6AM. My advisor was also on a similar schedule, and we'd sometimes have meetings/discussions around 3AM. If I could go back to that schedule again now that I'm in the real world, I'd do so in a heartbeat. Isn't Indianapolis now in Eastern Daylight Savings Time? So, if you're coming from the east coast, 8 AM is 8AM, but, if you're coming from points west, it's 7 AM or earlier. Okay, 7 AM (perceived) is a bit early for me for a class, but I can make that. Just squeezes breakfast a bit. Ron

Anne You WILL sit at the Demo area tables provided! (If I have to tie you to the chair and make sure you're in the window light yes yes, if we have any) You WILL be on the schedule! (If I have to tie you up at ReaperCon to get times from you). You will promote Reaper Goodness! Margaritas? No no no, Chocolate Martinis. Much more fun. I have to check, but I was certain I had to adjust my clock back an hour going there so I am certain it is central. Apparently I was wrong, it's Eastern. Looks like they changed it without personally telling me. If the April 28, 2005, Indiana state legislation stands up, on April 2, 2006, Indiana will no longer be counted as one of three states which do not Spring ahead from "standard" to "daylight saving" time or Fall back from daylight to standard six months later. The Indiana Legislature voted to approve Daylight Saving Time for Indiana and to petition the US Department of Transporation to hold hearings to determine the location of the dividing line between the Eastern and Central time zones, relative to Indiana. So that makes it worse, 7AM ish for the central folks 6AM ish for the mountain folks 5AM ish for the pacific folks
pae
Indiana is weird, as far as timezones go. Part of the state observes Daylight Savings time, and part of it doesn't. Add to that the fact that the eastern/central split goes through the state, and you have one big mess. I used to live in Louisville, KY (right across the river from Indiana), and I never could remember which parts were in what time.
Wreckmaster
Indianpollis is defanatly on Central time, and this is the first year they are going to be on Daylight Savings time. Therefore there is an hour differance from the east coast and 2 hours differance from the left.
vutpakdi
The first version of the GenCon event list is available!! It will probably need to go through some revisions: I've noticed a few errors in the events that I'm interested in (Mini Painting workshops and Warlord). For example, Anne's classes are listed with Sue as the instructor. The Ebontop runs seem to be listed at 4 hour time slots (aren't they normally 45 minutes only?). There are a couple of David Dresech's sessions listed at 4 AM. Ron
ladystorm
Ebontop runs seem to be listed at 4 hour time slots (aren't they normally 45 minutes only?). that is not an error. a 4 hour time slot lets you play 4 rounds during that time slot. Ron Seeing as they just started doing the corrections I wanted done weeks ago, hang on for the update and assume 4am meant 4pm, and that Anne gave me her ID number for her events late, as did a few others, like Marike and Todd Arrington. But all will be corrected soon, they assure me. Also note that Reaper Speed Painting Championships will be Zeros. Zero charge, zero registrations available, again, that's for the Championship SPeed Painting rounds only. Also all the Speed Painting will be added to the Non Historical Minis Events listing as well. So thanks for the heads up, and if you have any direct questions about the events for your planning needs, just let me know and I'll try and get them answered so you'll be set for May 1st Reg Day! Interesting. So, if you sign up, you run through Ebontop four times? And, there is no way to run through just once (other than signing up and then leaving after running through once, forgoing the next 3 rounds)? Seeing as they just started doing the corrections I wanted done weeks ago, hang on for the update and assume 4am meant 4pm, and that Anne gave me her ID number for her events late, as did a few others, like Marike and Todd Arrington. But all will be corrected soon, they assure me. Thank you for the response. Looks like one of the sessions that I've flagged may be taught by Marike or Todd since you are currently listed as the teacher (which would be just fine). I'm delighted that even a draft event list has gone up so that I can start planning what will probably be a very mini workshop and warlord heavy schedule.
