eastman
I guess the other question is how the heck are we supposed to watch the Kentucky Derby on the Saturday of the Con? That is a very pressing question, especially since I have a class from 5-7pm that day and post time is 6:04pm EST. Don't suppose Derek would let me smuggle a TV into his class.... ... and who's supplying the Mint Juleps? Can't watch the Kentucky Derby without a Mint Julep (for those unfamiliar with the classic Mint Julep, it could best be descriped as a Bourbon slushie). pae
I was telling Angela the other night that the Mint Julep is the joke that people from Louisville (me included) play on visitors. We talk about how great it is, but it's really nasty. Recipe: Super-saturated sugar water Mint springs Bourbon Ice

Recipe: Super-saturated sugar water Mint springs Bourbon Ice A friend of mine used to hold annual Kentucky Derby parties while we in Grad School (he probably still holds them wherever he's moved off to). His recipe for Mint Juleps was basically throw a small sprig of fresh mint in a glass full of crushed ice, crunch the leaves against the ice with a spoon until they are lightly bruised, then add a little bit of the sugar syrup and a whole lot of Bourbon (usually Old Crow, IIRC) and stir

pae
I guess I just prefer my bourbon straight out of the bottle. No glass needed.
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted April 10, 2006 Reaper User Share Posted April 10, 2006 Clarification. As usually Reaper would have an informal Meet 'n' Greet on Friday night before the Con, this year we will have an informal Meet 'n' Greet *Thursday* evening before the Con; so sayeth ReaperEd, God of Pewter. Y'all can come down from 5 p.m. 'till 9 p.m. and hang out and paint or blab or whatever. The shop will be in final moving-about/getting-cleaned mode, so no tours or bitz shopping, sorry. I may be still scampering about getting some of our painter guests checked into the hotel and such, but should be there solidly for the last part of the evening. Thanks everyone, and see you there!! --Anne

Sergeant_Crunch
Sweet! Don't think I'll do any painting, just mill about and associate faces and real names with screennames.

paintminion
Cool, I'll follow Anne, constantly asking, "who's that? Who's that?" and "Where is that?" and "What am I suppose to be doing?" and other newbie ReaperCon questions. :-) You guys may have to detach her fingers from my throat before the end of the evening. My only defense is that Anne stole my brain when she went to Texas and I'll make her suffer the consequences! Bwuahahahahahaha! Oh...back to work now. Unglef
I think we should hold an all-out assault on that barbecue joint (why can't I ever remember its name?) again . That has been loads of good times the past couple years.
