Sharky
Just a bit of therapeutic posting here - it's always good to get problems off of your chest rather than brood on them, so here is a thread for those of us who are hitting roadblocks in our entries for the painting competition. I'm keeping my main entry under wraps for the moment, but all I have to ask is, why does Super Glue have to fail me at a critical point? I made an adjustment to the figure that I'm working on (an arm, specifically) and I've been regretting it ever since I pinned it in place. I expected gaps to appear when I did the repositioning (a simple matter for greenstuff to fix), but I'm beginning to wonder if there might be too big a gap at one point, even with deep pins. Jeeze, after at least 10 pins, countless cutting, filing and inhaling pewter dust (twitch), in addition to the filling and minor resculpting, the paint job is going to be easy! Heh, I actually feel better now. Time to take a break and watch Samurai Jack with my little boy, that should clear my head. Anyone else need to rant and rave at their projects - before they hurl them into the wall? Don't worry, we're here for you!
pae
A few days ago, I was ready to break out a big hammer. Now, I'm ok...it's just a matter of getting them all finished. I'm still hoping to get entries for 5 categories done. 2 are ready. 2 others are close. The last is primed.
mooseyjoe
Sorry to get off-topic, but you get to watch samurai jack!!!! That was my favorite cartoon. I didn't know that it was still on. You lucky dog. Nothing more relaxing than samurai jack.
cutebutpsycho
It's too late for me, the project has already hit the wall. Oh well, there's always next year...... Seriously though, I have one entry ready to go and I'm hoping I can get more, but life keeps jumping in the way. I'm looking forward to what everyone else is up to and, worst case scenario, I have something to show my teachers for what my painting level is ( LOW )..... Rastl
One is coming along nicely, the other I'm having questions about since I'm not sure the basing meets regs for the category I want to enter it into.
pae
I might be able to help there, Rastl. Do you have pics that you can send me in a PM? I know the figures aren't allowed to be made public on the net, but I think sharing pictures privately is allowed. I see this as no different from having someone local see your work and commenting on it.

You lucky dog. Nothing more relaxing than samurai jack. Actually, we have the DVDs for season one and two - I don't think it's being played on any station @cutebutpsycho: Ah, don't think your painting is bad - I've not met you or seen your work, but the fact that you want to enter it in a contest says it can't be all that terrible! Heck, this is the first contest I've entered in over a decade - I'm hoping to avoid seeing the judge's commentary on my entries
Rastl
Um, judge's commentary? You mean we have to SEE what they really think of our work? Oh dear. Better bring the sling for the ol' ego.
eastman
Um, judge's commentary? You mean we have to SEE what they really think of our work? Oh dear. Better bring the sling for the ol' ego. IIRC from last year, if you want comments from the judges, you'll have to ask them after the judging is all done, no comments are written down at the time of judging (they are probably way too busy during the judging)
Sergeant_Crunch
If I've learned anything, it's that waiting till 3 weeks out till a con is not a good time to decide to start painting 34 miniatures.
Tannhauser
Three of my entries are ready to go (all Warlord Categories, I'm just grabbing the best models from my armies to enter). I've got a CAV to paint. I also have to decide which DH model I want to buy and paint.
paintminion
Anyone remember the movie Real Genius? The library study scene? Everyone is shown super absorbed and focused, stressed by study, but pushing through. Until one boy stands up, does a hulk imitation and screams "AHHHHH!" in each direction of the room before leaving? Last friday Paint Night, that was me. Really. And I'm only doing one miniature. Satin effects are heck. Took a nice long break, a glass of wine, some dark chocolate, and I was back into the figure again. No, I wasn't drunk, and yes, my paint buddies did ask me if I was and they were prepared for an intervention if necessary.
Flit
Well.....the one I am rally hoping to finish and enter went into the Simple Green Wed. night. Haven't had a chance to work on it since. Really hectic weekend with inlaws visiting, sick kitty cat.... I have another one that I also hope to finish that I am about half way through with the skin. With a bit of luck I may actually have one or two entries this year.
Humansquish
Just one more figure for my Warlord army that needs touch up and sealing, and then I get to try nmm and fur for the first time on one of my contest entries. I'm a little hesitant on tackling that one.
pae
I had an interesting semi-disaster yesterday. My painting table basically fell over, and everything ended up on the floor. I think most of the stuff I was working on for this contest is salvageable, but I'm going to have to reassemble one of them.
