robertsjf
Gah! That's why I stopped playing Battletech. OK, all 6 of my srms hit. The first one hits your left arm, did I damage any IS? Lemme roll for a critical....
SaintRigger
Biggest thing that I liked about Rogue Trader was that it was beer and pretzels gaming. You didn't have too many of the hardcore tournie fanboys - but you had a lot of people who could laugh it up while playing a game. I still bring out the old Rogue Trader stuff from time to time (rebound a half dozen times now I guess) - and it remains fun still. While the rules were not balanced - I never have been a huge fan of balanced rules... Reality isn't normally balanced, and although I never had an issue with people abusing rules and what not (usually game with friends, so it isn't so much about winning), when ever that has happened with other systems - they just stop receiving the invite and soon see the error of their ways. I agree with you 100%
Lars Porsenna
OK, all 6 of my srms hit. The first one hits your left arm, did I damage any IS? Lemme roll for a critical.... Which can be rewarded at times by... "OK my Wasp fires his SRM2 at the Banshee S...hits...GOES INTERNAL...CRIT!...COCKPIT!!!! I WIN!!!!!!" Damon, has happened to me... Sergeant_Crunch
My personal favorite was always the Death From Above that obliterates the cockpit. But I think we're digressing here...
Ranzadule
Rogue Trader was a it broken and had cool, quirky stuff in it. I loved it but the newer versions were likley better in balance. What WAS lost from the Rogue Trader days is really WFB. Back before and during the RT days, WFB had a lot more tactics, formations and coolness than it does today. Put the two together and you will see that much was lost from Ye Olde Days. >=(
vejlin
ah yes, all the formations you could do in WFB
Nanite
The Battle for Mcragge set will be going away soon, correct? I like the nids, and I have a strange urge to start a Marines Errant force. Worth picking up, or too much waste with all the outdated stuff?
Joe Kutz
Worthwhile IMO. You get pretty good bang for the buck - although the models are much simpler than what you get from the various single sets. The terrain pieces are also pretty cool too.
vejlin
The terrain pieces are cool and IIRC there's not too much in most of the terrain pieces to establish scale (except for the one with the broken cockpit) so you can use it for CAV.
Sergeant_Crunch
However, if you're just after the terrain pieces hit eBay rather than buy the whole box. Unless you want the marine and 'nid models. I've been debating getting the 'nid sprues to use as Xenos for 5150.
Lars Porsenna
I'd get the Macragge set...if I didn't already have lots of marines. As it is I bought a few genestealers, rulebook, and new templates as bits from TheWarStore, nice n' cheap. IMHO WRT RT, definitely have nostalgia about it, but recognizing I have nostalgia helps me analyse it with some indifference. IMHO the newer editions of 40K give me a game I WANT to play more (remember: my watchword is more figures = better). While some of the rules had been stripped down, and the fluff changed, RT had its own fluff problems (lots of silliness, including Harley biker dwarfs and nazi Orks). As it is, with some perspective, I like the modern fluff better... Damon.
Nanite
Warstore is out of most of the individual bits, and buying the Marine and Tyranid sprues alone costs as much as the box. May as well go for it. The new guard rumors coming down the pike sound nice as well. More vehicle choices and all that. Edit: Scratch Macragge, I forgot I already picked up all the terrain bits I wanted, and I'd rather spend the money on the Vostroyans that I don't have yet. I keep hearing rumors that they're on the cut list.
Lars Porsenna
If they're on the cut list, more than likely they'll show up again on the GW on-line store. I've been filling out my Armageddon Steel Legion troops this way... Damon.
Nanite
Those classics models are cheap for GW! Did they lower the prices?
Lars Porsenna
Don't know if they lowered prices (some classic items are still pricey, like Armor through the Ages set), but with shipping an Armageddon Steel Legion squad set came out to approx $4.60 per figure (before shipping they're $3.50). So going back to an old rant, please tell me how overpriced GW stuff is again...? Damon.
