warlordgarou
Yup. Same sprues, smaller box. More expensive. Might be a good idea to get some Cadians right now if you wanted some. I'm really surprised they didn't redesign the Catachans at all. I completely agree with you on the look. The Sentinel is supposed to be brand new though, with all the Forgeworld options in plastic now. Kewlness. I have been meaning to buy 2-3 Sentinels for some time. I picked up a bunch for only a couple bucks apiece, knowing that they needed some significant repairs. I have most of them fixed, but a couple full sprues of Sentinels would let me field 12 or 14 of the stompy things. Guess I'll wait a bit - I'll just get a couple battlewagons and a Stompa or three first.
Lars Porsenna
Yup. Same sprues, smaller box. More expensive. Might be a good idea to get some Cadians right now if you wanted some. Doubt I could buy up a complete IG 3000pt army with the old boxes in any reasonable timeframe. Still, 10 plastic figures for IIRC $22 is still not a bad deal (considering how much metal figures are these days...and NOT JUST GW's!). Not as good as 20 for $35 IIRC the box sells for now, but really the price increase isn't so bad. PLus the other day I found GW DOES occasionally discount for bulk purchases (3 SoB is $15, or $5 per figure; a boxed set is 10 for $40, or $4 per figure!). That being said, those heads I linked to are much cheaper than buying the forgeworld equivalents... Damon.
sethohman
That being said, those heads I linked to are much cheaper than buying the forgeworld equivalents... I am waiting on my gas mask heads and galiator heads from them - they look too cool to pass up. But my shields are still back ordered :( And I used Pig Iron gas mask heads on all my Cadians - big improvement in how they look, IMO. And, no skin to paint as a bonus! I need 1 more box of them, so I need to pick that up before they go to the new size - thanks for the info there.
Nanite
Maxmini's toxic guardsmen heads are great too. That reminds me, I've got a handful of Artizan Greatcoat WWII American GI's and Pig Iron Heads for Swapping. I also really like the ork heads that Micro Art have been putting out. I really need to get laid off so I can get all these projects done. Oh and there are rumors of an extra accessory sprue in the Cadian and Catachan troop boxes. Not sure what's in it though, or if it really exists.
Nanite
New, Awesome, ForgeWorld Crabby-Thingy: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?a...mp;d=1238926550 Looks like it would get along great with Mutant Scrunts.
Lars Porsenna
Meh. It's allright. My question always is: how can this work into my World Eaters army? Or Iron Warriors? Or (soon to be worked on) Blood Pact (Traitor Guard) army? I think I'd rather get a resin WE dreadnaught myself... Damon.
warlordgarou
New, Awesome, ForgeWorld Crabby-Thingy: http://warseer.com/forums/attachment.php?a...mp;d=1238926550 Looks like it would get along great with Mutant Scrunts. Looks a lot like legs of a Cryxian Leviathan and a Khador 'jack. My first thought was that it was for Warmachine, and then I saw the trademark GW skulls. Meh. Nanite
The new IG boxes are on pre-order, and they seem like a fairly poor deal in comparison to others, each box is down to 20 troops, a Sentiel, a heavy weapons squad, and a command squad. Makes buying a tyranid Battleforce look like a no-brainer.
Lars Porsenna
That's what you get for $100??? The CSM boxed set is better: 20 CSMs IIRC, 8 Khorne Berzerkers, 5 Posessed CSM, and a Rhino. Damon.
Nanite
I just realized, no IG spearhead either. I would have actually bought that one. Looks like GW is holding back a bunch of stuff for Planetstrike (new IG tanks, fortifications, possibly more). Oh and the new IG trooper sprues don't contain any new bits. Bummer. Erion
I've heard that the new IG troop boxes contain a Heavy weapons team, though. Just word of mouth at this point, I've not seen one yet.
Nanite
Nopers. 10 men for $22. Same old sprues (and in the Catachans case, crappy sprues). Oh and general price increase on the way. Rumor is all plastics and a few more metals going up. That makes me really appreciate Reaper's price decreases with P-65 and in general. Erion
I thought the June price increase was UK only. Certainly the FLGS owner hadn't heard about it from GWUS as of yesterday.
Lars Porsenna
Still no plastic greatcoat guard, so whatever is in the Cadian or Catachan troops boxes has little actual impact on me. Maybe I'll just buy bits from The War Store, order the FW Traitor guard weapon arms, and use some "not-GW" heads. Bet it will be cheaper... Damon.
