Lars Porsenna
Salamanders! Seriously, the fanbase for this chapter has been growing for years, and the fans are very loyal. Salamanders got a throw-away list in the Armageddon campaign book, but IMHO could really use a BA/DA/SW style supplement, and not just because my avatar is a Sallie! Damon. Seriously, I think there is so much fluff and stuff available for the SW/BA/DA now that for the next 40k edition (bite my tongue) GW could get away with doing one small catch all book for them and the Ultramarines, and bring out the full scale army books for 3-4 additional chapters - I don't really think it matters what chapters they pick, even the most jaded Space Marine fan is gonna be tempted by something long hinted at, but otherwise completely "new." The key is to put the Ultra/SW/BA/DA's on the back burner - give them army lists so existing fans can play, and a new sculpt or two, but really go full out and give a couple more chapters the treatment the others have gotten for years. Nanite
Despite the nomenclature I've never gotten any sort of space-norse vibe from Space Wolves. Space Marine Wearewolves? Yes. But it's all a subjective : ) Totally Space vikings, in a cartoon sort of way. Read the novels, it really comes out there... Salamanders. One of the rite of passages is to kill a Salamander. This was the challenge the emperor and Primarch Vulkan participated in together. Possibly some SM tamed a Salamander, and now uses it as a mount... Damon. Ok, that makes sense, I don't read much of the background that isn't online. According to this there's about a gazillon Space Marine chapters: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Sp...Marine_Chapters So Space Wolves = Vikings. Iron Hands = Robots. Which chapters will out the Ninja, Pirate, and Monkey angles to satisfy all things nerd. Oh and there probably should be a space marine chapter with boobs. Just saying, it would maximise sales to their target demographic. Also there are no chapters that start with X,Y, or Z. GW really needs to get on that. kristof65
Hmm - never seen that full list. Some things have "changed" in the last couple editions - I was unaware that Tiger Claws became the Astral Claws then the Red Corsairs. I wonder why they've ignored the poor Rainbow Warriors from the original Rogue Trader book?
Erion
GW are certainly not shy about retconning stuff. Regarding the Rainbow Warriors, I think the answer is two-fold: 1) They get the whole MezoAmerican culture thing out of their system via WFB Lizardmen. 2) Far too many people in their target audience are immature about the cultural connotations rainbows have been saddled with in the last ten or fifteen years. warlordgarou
I have a squad painted up like the MPs from Rogue Trader. Neat link though - I'm pretty sure some of the color schemes have changed rather substantially in the last 20 years.

kristof65
2) Far too many people in their target audience are immature about the cultural connotations rainbows have been saddled with in the last ten or fifteen years. Oh yeah, I wasn't being serious with my question - I figured this was the number one reason they haven't made much of a mention of them. Heck, they got ridiculed for them when Rogue Trader first came out, at least in my area. Of course, I was living near San Francisco at the time... kristof65
Modelled riding Dinosaurs instead of bikes? I would think they should ride Unicorns In My Little Pony color schemes.

Erion
It's the claws. Our newest addition still has a fine enough point on hers to get between threads in denim. That, and she likes to chew on things with her pointy, pointy teeth.
