slidedog
Hey all! I managed to win the "Something Blue" on-line contest and since it's a Reaper mini I thought I'd share it over here. It's not nearly as good as Derek's but I tried some new things and like how it came out. I would welcome comments and criticisms as I am always trying to improve.
haldir
nice wood!!! seriously I love the aged look of it, espically the rear shot. Also the face/head area of the Maiden is great looking as well, it's kinda creepy looking.. congrats on the win RM
Humansquish
Your blends look real smooth. Congrats on the win.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted May 1, 2006 Moderator Share Posted May 1, 2006 Rrrrh. Curse you with all the goodness only someone who doesn't really mean his curse can muster. I have to paint my Dark Maiden before Thursday noon or I can't field my Razig army at Reapercon. This at least is inspiration to paint, not break my brushes like all the other DMs I've seen posted. pae
Very nice work, Torin! Everything on this looks great. Now get cracking on your Tacticon entries!
slidedog
Flynn, you know I will! I have an evil plan for the Con. Got to see if I can defend my Best in Show title for the third year in a row! (Though I don't expect to, the competition is getting fierce!)

Frustrated Father
Nicely done - one of my favorite Reaper miniatures (have two here actually that I need to work on).
Artists Wren Posted May 1, 2006 Artists Share Posted May 1, 2006 Congrats on the well-deserved win! I like that the figure is the only place where the blue is used, and the worn, neutral colours of the ship portions just complement it so nicely. skavenbabe
I really love the wood weathering on this one. Even thought I didn't count the votes on the contest as they went, it was obvious your's was winning. It just seemed to be on almost everyones votes Congrats on the win and hope to compete against you again soon!

Jabberwocky
I'll add my voice to the chorus of congratulations! It was pretty obvious from the get-go you were going to take that contest. My favorite part was the wood--excellent!

slidedog
Thanks for all of the great comments folks! I'll have to post more stuff in here, it's good for my ego I do like a good critique as well, but I'm sure glad everybody liked it so much.
