Jabberwocky
Well, her she is, finished just four hours before my daughter's big number 5 birthday party. Thanks to everyone that followed along in the WIP thread. I really enjoyed this one. It took me a bit to get the face like I wanted (her eyes are small ), but I think it came out well. I used a couple of the colored metallics from the MSP's. The dress was based in Sparkling Amethyst, shaded with black and then highlighted with a mixture of linen white and the amethyst. I attempted a sheer effect on the front leg, arms, and booty. In the end, I didn't get it quite as good as I had hoped. The tanned skin I mixed with the amethyst would dull the metallic effect. I was able to glaze the amethyst back on, but it covered the tanned skin color enough that it diminished the effect. The wings were done with whites and grays, then glazed with Pearl White. Unfortunately, the effect doesn't photograph well (at least for me ), but in real life gives a shimmering effect I found very...well...fairy like. I hope you enjoy her; and as always, comment and especially critiques most welcome!
Whyspyr
She's gorgeous! And I think it's amazing that you got her to look so much like Stockard Channing If you don't believe me go look at her photo on IMDB! I really love your color selection. I think the wings look great as well. To be honest I've never been very interested in this figure until I saw your WIP-but I think I'll buy one now

slidedog
Nice work Jabber! I love the dress and the way you managed to pull out details in the folds looks great. The tiny little fairies contrast well and really POP! WTG!
Redhandstudios
I have never cared for this particular figure until now. I guess i just needed to see it painted up nicely. I kinda have an issue with the mardi gras type beads on her necklace, but am completely impressed with how her dress and wings turned out. Kudos to you! Artists Wren Posted May 4, 2006 Artists Share Posted May 4, 2006 I love the wings, and can only imagine how they look even nicer in the real world where the pearlescent effect is evident. I didn't realize that you'd done the dress in a metallic, that's very cool!
Jabberwocky
Those were supposed to be flowers around her neck, hehe. The yellow was a bit bright, but I thought it would add nice contrast to the purple of the dress. Thanks everyone for your kind comments!
