Finally made it back. I think for the whole trip we put in over 2000 miles of driving. Reminder to self next time FLY. I had an awesome time guys. Thank you. I cant beleive how well I did on so little sleep. It's a good thing I turned in early (1am) on Thursday and Friday or I never would have managed the two nights in a row of hanging out drinking and BSing till 5am. I very much apreciated being able to just be "one of the guys." May ShinerCOn live in imfamy. Thanks to Prefunk for the inspiration to sit my butt down and actually paint a CAV. Even if it was only a plane. ::P: Hope you enjoy it Spartan. :;):

Time to pull off all the pictures from my camera and torment everyone with them.

Last year was more or less meet & greet everyone, get to meet the sculptor's behind the great figs we buy & cheerish (espically some that I've known since Partha days) & such, but this year was more or less get involved with everything more.

Got more classes this time around, (notables were WK's class, man that guy can sculpted, even simple things that would take me days to do, the dragon class, btw THANKS Reaper for the blister dragon!!!, Jester's airbrush class---"Lucy in the sky with diamonds" after effects after that one, ha ha, Bob's basic class mainly to show that I can do simple things now with green stuff, watching Derek in action, man that thing he was working was just freakin cool!!!, & of course Laszlo's blending class, now it's not an alien term to me!!!!!) Not overclassed due to everything was different & I really learned alot this time around--which means maybe I can actually get back into mini painting again & actually have something up in the show off forum here soon.

glad to see everyone again---Qwyk (again my chaffeur for the Con, you know one of these times I'm gonna have to repay yah--maybe in the form of ShinerCon 07 supplies. Unglef (damn you make me laugh + you are one hell of freind, thank you!!), Steven & Spike, again glad to see you guys--Steven you say that mini I gave you is great & I thank you for that (even if I think it's ehhhh subpar at the least) & Spike, thank you for what you said to Qwyk during Scon, that will live on in my memories for a long long time, Jester, well for being Jester--glad to see you as down to earth as everyone else, Spartan6 & preFunk for the room, for the stories & hell for the beer!!! HofDexter, nice getting to know you more, same to Gus & Angela, you guys are great people to know. Flynn--maybe I need to think about GenghisCon next year, also glad to talk to yah in person. To the Reaper staff--awesome as always, you guys would be the ideal company for me to work for, you guys make it all seem like a fun is oddball ride. Got to meet Kit this time, awesome person!! Emmel Eitch (even if I didn't recognize yah first (the hair!!)) didn't mind forkin over the card at the counter, ha ha, the painters & sculptors, espically Bob Ridolfi (one hell of guy, thank you Bob), also thanks to Werner. Also thanks to Gene Van Horne, for the hello & handshake at teh La Q Monday morning, the one sculptor I didn't get a chance to meet over the weekend, thank you!!! Thanks to Ixminis (Micheal G), Anne, & espically to Cheryl (ha ha, thanks, I'll leave it at that)

last year I pretty much retired to my room after the days events but this year I took part in ShinerCon 06, & I'm glad I did, even if it did mean one hellish morning the next day + wakin up to some horrid Mexican music on the radio (how the dial ended up there I have no idea, but it did it's job of waking me up).

so with a secert "Shinercon handshake" I say THANK YOU for one hell of weekend, I really needed it!!!

Also anther big thank you to Qwyk, the tubby guiness fairy for the ride to & from the airport, to & from Rcon, & for the OH #$(#() I left my camera & ipod back at the hotel, return trip, thanks, you are one hell of guy & will make one hell of father when your little one is born.

It was great to meet everybody. Sue and Lazlo, it's very nice to see you again after 2 years. Thank you to Reaper staff for their hospitality. Thank you for Kathryn for a great dinner and thank you for all of you who attended my classes. I already told Anne that I'll be at RAC this year <knock on wood> so see you again in October!

I'm just about to start cleaning up the 'Special Sophie' that I was lucky enough to get. Well, one of the ones I got.

Man, I am having to exercise every ounce of will power in me to finish the other version of her that I had started before the con! I have one of this one cleaned and ready to prime, but must.....finish....other.....first.

I gotta tell the story of how I got home...if you can't stand my rambles, move along to my next post that is my thanks and appreciation.

</rant mode on>

I was so sad to leave Tuesday morning. Sadder to find that although I would have had time to grab food and relax for awhile before getting on my flight home, the airline changed my flight to much much MUCH earlier! The woman at the "easy" check in machine said--don't think you'll make it, they already started boarding. I ran after making sure my 60 pound suitcase of lead and paint made it onto the conveyor belt...bye bye, would it make it to the plane? I get to security and dump everything in the bin.., BEEEEEEEP...oh yeah, cell phone in lower pocket...BEEEEEEEEEP...ok ok, here's my change...cool, I'm through blasted bleepin machine. 'Ma'am, do you know you've been tagged by Security for further screening?' My plane is boarding now, what do I need to do? 'Please wait here while we get a female security attendant to search you and all of your belongings.' <sigh> I do make sure Security knows I would rather they DID search people as I'm trusting them to keep me safe on that plane...just, why NOW? So, I get wanded in public view, then we go to a private room where I am wanded AGAIN, searched very thoroughly, see everything in my big green bag dumped nonchalantly on the table and searched, unwrapping various minis and not rewrapping them as well <sigh>. Tricorder thingies waved over my belongings and plugged into machines that pretty much come out and say 'despite the heavy fumes of DullCote, and the green stuff residue, she's not the terorist we're looking for.' I got grilled on what I was in town for, where was it (ehem, somewhere around Denton? LaQ hotel, just off some highway?)

After much deep breathing and mutters held in check, I was let loose to run to the gate for my plane. I just made it with them closing the door behind me. Everyone moved to let me at the window seat. And there I sat, having had a half a waffle for breakfast hours ago, looking forlornly at the small bag of snacky crumbs handed to me. I left my banana in the back of the van.

Landed at O'Hare about 2, people staring at me as my tummy rumbled. I called for my ride and they said they would be there in 5 minutes, to get my luggage fast. Okay, I can eat in a bit, right? after waiting 15 minutes the luggage arrives, and mercy me, there's my bag! I call and ask where was it I'm suppose to meet my ride? End of Terminal 1. Okay, I drag the 60 pounds behind me, my painters elbow protesting on both arms, and get there. No ride. I wait. No ride. Migraine starting, no drink for my pills. I call. What parts I could hear said go to Terminal 2. Fine, I'll go to Terminal 2 end. I wait. I wait. I get out the cell phone and find they had called me 3 times...apparently I can't hear the cell phone ring surrounded by airport traffic. I call and they want to know where I am...they are sitting at the end of Terminal 1 waiting for me. Frak. Frelling Frak. Migraine gearing up like a plane taking off.

They find me, they take me to my car at their place, after raiding a McD's I drive home through rush hour traffic on I-90 and it POURS rain so we're moving at 5mph. Art calls me and wants me to stop and get something at the store.

I got home to find my hubby has dinner ready, my daughter has her homework done, and my cat missed me greatly. ::):

Moral of the story? Everything works itself out in the end. Just forget the hours between Denton and home, Sue, and it's all good. :;):

Just be grateful your checked luggage made it on the same flight Sue.

Last year, for Reaper Con they decided to give my checked luggage a full cavity search. It missed my plane, and I had to wait until the next day for it to arrive at my office. I got to the airport 2 hours before my flight left too.

At Manchester, NH airport, en route to Gen Con last year, they stopped checking luggage at 30 minutes before the flight. It was an almost empty plane. I arrived at 29 minutes before because of major traffic. They refused to let me gate check my rolling duffel, which would fit in an overhead bin as carryon, but I also had a backpack and army transport case I was bringing on carryon. So my options were to purchase another ticket to arrive later that day, for approximately $1300 (that's counting my credit from the other flight) or go elsewhere. I bought a ticket for a flight leaving 2 hours later from Southwest, for $400 and made it to Indy about 2 hours later than planned. I could have gotten a ticket on Independence Air that would have gotten me to Indy an hour earlier than my original flight, for $300, but because of the delays in dealing with Delta and their customer service, I missed the flight by 5 minutes and it was the last flight of the day. Both SW and IA had comments about Delta I cannot repeat this board  I will never fly Delta again because of this, mostly because of the refusal to let me gate check or take the extra bag as carryon. <_< Southwest gets my business every time I fly now except for DFW. Stupid Texas laws :grr:

Is it a federal or a state law that says that Southwest can't fly to DFW? Or is it that the maximum flight distance from Love Field is restricted? Anyway, I believe that there is an effort to get said law repealed. For some reason, American is fighting repealing that particular law. :B):
