Sergeant_Crunch
Finally got around to building a light box and how to use the manual white balancing on my camera. Here's my old picture of a Khan with some extensive tweaking in photoshop: And here's the new pic without any tweaking: Whaddya think? vutpakdi
Your new picture definitely looks better. I'm jealous: my photo-fu is still pretty weak and definitely something that I need to improve. Has the second photo been tweaked at all in Photoshop? (Doesn't look like it has, but that's just a guess). Ron
Sergeant_Crunch
Nope, no tweaking. Downloaded the manual for my camera a while ago and finally got around to reading it. Discovered that I can manually set the white balance on it. That function is so buried in the camera's settings menu I never would've found it. So now the process is: 1) set up the box 2) position light and frame the picture with no mini and set white balance 3) place mini in box, frame, and shoot. slidedog
BIIIG improvement! You've got more natural contrast and saturation as well as good neutrals. It also looks like you camera does what mine doeas and shoots slightly blue at that white point. If you can add just a hint of yellow it may pop even more. It may be my monitor but the reds look a little pink, and the yellow would bring them back. Your Photo fu is much improved, soon you may be able to leave the temple... paintminion
Looks like there's too much shadow from the right---either you need an additional lightsource or you aren't positioning the lightsource correctly to get good lighting on the spot where you place your minis. You are getting better though!
Sergeant_Crunch
Unfortunately I only have one lightsource at the moment (but it's really bright ). I left the design of the lighbox so that I can cut out more panels in the sides later when I get more lights.
Jabberwocky
You are learning your photo-fu, grasshopper... Seriously--the second pic looks much improved. The reds do look a bit pinkish, but the photoshop should be able to correct that.
