gobob
Hi! I just started painting minis a couple of weeks ago and I decided to finally get the courage to post a mini. This one is the Angel of Shadow. I figured with the shadowy theme, I'd make her sorta gothy. I tried to make the lighting of the lantern show. I think it turned out OK. Oh, and before someone says something about it, the reason why the lighting doesn't show too much on the wing is because the lower wing covers most of the lanterns "glow" (the lantern is almost touching the wing at the bottom). Lemme know!
Jabberwocky
Welcome to the forums, Gobob! Great first mini! I like the blue on the wings. Keep 'em coming!

slidedog
Those are some great eyes for a first mini! You obviously have good brush control. Check out tips and hints, especially look into dark lining to seperate different areas, that would take this one up another notch right away. Then paint, paint, paint. Every mini will teach you something new to keep in your tool box. Excellent first effort!
Redhandstudios
Very cool, especially for a first. The eyes rock and the wings are a realy cool concept. Try not to touch the mini...at all...while painting it. I just started glueing mine to corks and bottle tops for handeling while painting. That keeps you from rubbing your paint off while working. Outside of that little tip...you are kicking much gothic winged hiney!

That keeps you from rubbing your paint off while working. I've tried sticking the mini on a juice bottlecap and using sculpey to hold it down. It works decently, but sometimes the mini falls off while working on it. Do you GLUE it glue it? Cause that idea makes me nervous.
Sergeant_Crunch
Another thing that works is tacky poster putty. Heavier minis won't stay, most others will. Depending on how tacky the putty is, you can turn the mini upside down without fear.

Cause that idea makes me nervous. Yep, use superglue. Superglue has a very low shear hold capability, and as such, you can pop the mini off the painting base when done by sliding an X-acto knife blade between the mini and the base and twisting the knife a bit. On a person size mini, I use about 2 to 3 small drops of Superglue gel to hold the mini to the metal top of an old paint or babyfood jar. Great job for one of your fist minis. Wish my firsts were that good. TS
gobob
If superglue is that bad, should I use epoxy for attaching arms, wings and such? I'm using Locktite gel control superglue.

chambersofminiatures
Very nice job. What I noticed is that the hair, skirt and some of the wings are the same color, grey. The miniature does not "pop". I am a firm believer in subtle and natural color combinations, buy something ned to catch the eye. Like I said very nice job and keep painting. Thanks for sharing. Prophet
Nice overall job. I really like the multi-colored wings. Nice detail work as well. Prophet
