"Ultimate" Eye Monster

Recommended Posts

I started this about a week ago. I really wanted to do a Hive..........er I mean Ultimate.....EYE MONSTER. hehe anyway yes that is a snow glow, its from South Beach. I want her to be hollow in two pieces to keep the pewter cost down low. I needed something.... ball like. I'm going to have to figure out how to keep her off the ground. any ideas? I'm really happy with the way she is turning out. My only real concern is I want her to be scary or just plain evil. Should I add a frowning brow? would that help make her evil or is she evil looking now? When I did her drawing I just keep it simple. (I'll post that tommorrow) anyway comments please! Thanks!

Momma needs a really stern brow bent in a gaze of loathing for the poor interloper who dared invade her hive. If you are doing a 'hive mother' then you can do a birthing(egg?) sack dragging on the ground and baby eyes being left in its wake. ( an excuse to do some little 'eyes' too). The hollow thing is a good idea as a solid one would be way too expensive, not to mention heavy.

The only suggestion I can think of for that piece would be a small rework on the mouth. I don't know how feasible it would be for you to do that and still have it sucessfuly cast, yet it looks odd that the mouth is convex inside. Such a creature should have a gaping maw, or perhaps a long semi-prehensile tongue coming out.

Would it be possible for you to remove the material from between the teeth, then go in and sculpt the inside of the mouth seperately? Perhaps making it a 3 piece miniature (Not counting basing materials/additional features) with the inside of the mouth being fitted in before the two halves of the body were put together? That may be overly complex but it would give you a good bit of freedom to do some elaborate detail on the inside, giving the figure more depth. Just my two bits.

Now back to silently lurking.

Great job. Decorate the inside to and you can have sort of "Jonah and the whalefish" adventures (or pinochio) in there with a couple of minis :poke:

Please un-lurk more often! ::): I love that idea.

But I've used up one of my three good ideas for this calendar year. Six months left, gotta save the last two. I have presents to figure out.
