Unglef
Ok, here goes: Edward (Eddie) Wallace Cadenbaugh, a.k.a. Hammerfist Powers: Invulnerability (limited), super strength and endurance, can charge his fists with kinetic energy which is released upon contact with something. Appearance: T-shirt and jeans, combat boots. He's a rather large fellow, weighing in at 375 pounds and standing 6' 10". Cover: None. Eddie's story has been well documented in the media, so he makes no effort to hide. His code-name, Hammerfist, is the only thing that is a secret. Background: Eddie was an athlete all his life and discovered his powers around age 14. He hid them from all but two people, his brother and his girlfriend. Football got him to college, where he got into trouble for killing some men in self defence using his powers. A scared Eddie was pressed into military service instead of prison (he didn't have a good lawyer). Five years later, through the help of numerous civil rights groups, he managed to get a trial, and won. He has since been exonerated and pardoned. After all the killing he did for the government, he just wants to help people with his abilities for as long as he can.
NymMoondown
I've sent this character to Vinny about a super speedy heroine who builds up the static electricity she creates from such fast movement, but if there is allready an electric type maybe I should come up with something better..... Outkast Samurai
James "Jimmy" Mann Aka 'Pulse' Powers: Electric manipulation, Lightning bolt, Fast as light movement through powerlines, Electric force wall. Weakness: Sonics disrupt the electric flow in his body. Cover: Jimmy works as an electrician for Vigil City Power working on high voltage lines. It was on the job during a storm that the accident that gave Pulse his powers happened. He was repairing downed lines to help people get electric back to their homes when the storm kicked back up flailing the not quite connected lines into Jimmy infusing him with raw electric power. Nothing wrong with more than 1 shocker in the game as far as I can see. Play what sounds like fun Nym.
Qwyksilver
Ahhh so golden age. Every character has nickname ending in a diminutive so far. Just great :) @Nym. Looks like there is only one other electric based character right now - Outkast's. My character has a weakness to electricty and Unglef's isn't electricty, kinetic energy could be anything, and in this case, sounds like some sort of concussive/supercharged punch. Besides, it sounds more like your character's primary ability is speed. Depending on how it manifests, you could have all sorts of additional secondary powers. Just think of the Flash, who can phase through matter by speeding up his molecules or creating a whirlwind effect by running in a circle, or travelling through time by eclipsing the speed of light, or having a devastating punch, not because of strength, but the momentum behind it, or if he happened to be wearing slippers on a shag carpet, generating one hell of a shock A speed guy is a classic superhero team member. Looking like a pretty good mix so far. Who else was playing? I think we were around the 5-6 member team weren't we? Also. We need to come up with some cheesy arse mom and apple pie name for our group, like Defenders of Justice or Liberty Kids or something. Since we're in Vigil City, maybe the Vigilant [# Team members]
CuCulain42
Name: Carter Randolph aka Cave Cricket Powers: Dark Vision, Adhesion, Leap, armored suit Weaknesses: None Known, armored suit is unique and not replaceable Appearance: Carter is a lanky fellow, 5' 10" though only 130 lbs, his costume is the alien body armor which is a body hugging grey-brown suit that even covers his face (the face area acts as a one way window of sorts.) Carter is a homicide investigator, though relatively new to that position, having recently been promoted. Carter gained his powers in a spelunking expedition. A cave-in separated him from the rest of his group leaving him to find his own way out. In the process he discovered a strange metallic section of cave. This turned out to be an alien craft that had crashed 300 million years before. Most of the outer areas of the craft had been crushed and warped by geologic activity, but the middle areas had yet to be harmed. Exploring the wreckage he discovered a set of doors, these lead to the main power core. Upon entering these doors, which miraculously still functioned he was bathed in a strange radiation. Very quickly he began to develop unusual abilities. The first he noticed was he was able to see even in the pitch black of the cavern, he also noticed some of the colors he saw were different than he’d ever seen. What he didn’t realize was that he had developed a ”third eye,” actually an organ that was producing UV light. (He is a beacon to those able to see UV.) Exploring further, Carter discovered a suit of a strange greyish brown material. This suit he discovered conformed to his body and was highly resistant to damage. He also discovered that the suit would slowly repair damage it had sustained. He is unaware as to how severe of damage it can actually sustain and still repair it self. Later he discovered that he could stick to any surface, able to climb even glass. In addition he found he could make super human leaps of 200 meters. Frustrated with the ineffectiveness of the judicial system, Carter has taken up fighting crime in the guise of the Cave Cricket.
Unglef
Oh, I forgot to list Eddie's weakness. Sometimes he loses control of his charging ability. This happens rarely, and only when he's under extreme duress (for a superhero). When it does happen, his entire body becomes charged, and then he "explodes". This has a devastating effect on the surrounding area, so if he says "Get tha hell outta here!", be somewhere else. With time and training, he hopes to overcome this detriment. NymMoondown
@Qwyk. Well since Outkast's character is super close to mine, I think I might either use Vendetta or I'll make an archer type (another classic). By the way, are er using any specific rules set? Unglef
Ooooohhhhh, Vendetta. I forgot that you were the one who made that one up, Nym. Great character. And I don't think that there is a rules set.
Qwyksilver
There's not any specific ruleset as far as I am aware. According to Vinny, it's going to be predominantly role playing, not roll playing. Think of it more like when we were kids pretending to be the superfriends or Thundercats or something in the back yard.
Unglef
I was usually Spider-Man, myself, resulting in me falling off of things a lot. Sometimes I was the Hulk, resulting in me getting in trouble for throwing things. Thank God I never figured out how to lift a car. Other times I was Green Arrow, and I guess it was a good thing I never had a real bow, or there might be less eyes in my family. Speaking of Spidey, does anyone else here hate his new suit, or is it just me?
Qwyksilver
Haven't seen the new suit. Do you have a link to a picture of the new costume? I stopped keeping tabs on comics awhile ago, just got tired of the catering to the collector instead of the reader. More often than not my cousins and I players Starblazers or Battle of the Planets/G-Force. Superfriends was more with the neighborhood kids. I was almost always Batman, he's been my favorite comic figure since I was a little kid. Spidey was always a close second for me.
Unglef
Here it is. As for catering to the collector vs. reader issues, there is still a lot of collector crap going on, such as variant covers that start at $30 (on release day), but this is a good time for readers as well. I highly suggest Conan by Dark Horse to anyone that is a R. E. Howard or sword-and-sorcery fan. Dynamite Entertainment is set to release Highlander #0 later this month, which shows promise. Kurt Busiek is doing good things with both Aquaman and Superman, and Grant Morrison will tackle Batman soon. If you ever enjoyed reading The Incredible Hulk, pick up the Planet Hulk series. You will thank me.
Qwyksilver
I won't even begin to type what my first thoughts are on that new costume for fear that Kit will personally hunt me down and kill me for my inappropriate language. The most scaled down I can get is: When did Doc Oc take over Spidey's mind? What happened that Parker needs a metal Peter?
Unglef
Tony Stark built the suit, which only strengthens my hatred for Tony Stark. He's a genius, and yet he couldn't build a new suit for Spider-Man and keep the same look. Those little doohickeys sticking out of it are mentally controlled and are apparently called 'waldoes'. I have no idea what has gone through the heads of the Marvel people lately, but hopefuly once this Civil War nonsense is over with, Spidey will be back in the blue, red, and black. The only redeeming quality I have seen so far with the new suit is that it's bulletproof, so next time Peter decides to catch a bullet, literally (he did it in a miniseries called The Other:Evolve or Die, it was pretty cool), he won't have to worry about having a hole in his hand afterwards.
