Preparing the Spell

This is the Second of the three figures for the witches coven diorama I'm putting together. It's also my entry for the final round of the Iron Painter competition on the Wryd-games forums. The theme ingredient this time around was NMM. I'm looking forward to finding out how the voting goes. :)

Although this paintjob looks great, it does not have a bunch of metal on it. I would assume that maybe your other characters have more on them..

If NMM is the theme of the contest, again I would assume that it means there needs to be a decent amount of NMM painted.

Sorry, been a long day already. Don't mean to sound negative or trite.

Nice job!

I really like the color on her dress. What paints and colors did you use?

I tend towards a mixture of the Reaper Master Series and Valleyo Model Colors. The golds are a base of Dune Shadow and Desert Khaki and Golden Highlight. I pulled them up with Pale Sand (VMC) and white and shaded them down with Camoe Black Brown (VMC).

The Dress is white and Neutral Grey (VMC) with Pale Blue (VMC) and Pale Sand (VMC) glazes shaded down with Dark Blue Grey (VMC) and Camoe Black Brown.

Her hair is Walnut, and Camoe Black Brown and English Uniform (VMC) with highlights of Pale Sand mixed with Fair Shadow and layered areas of Beige Brown (VMC) and Intense Brown.

The Skin tones are a base of Beige Brown with the fair skintones from reaper shaded down with Camoe Black brown.

As too the NMM theme, it's more about adding enough of it to show off the technique. I was also going a bit for a more metallic feel to the fabric, that didnt quite turn out as obvious in the photos as I'd hoped. That's ok, I'm happy with it anyways.

That looks really, really, really nice. I am jelouse that you are able to produce such a nice NMM on such a small area. My only real comment (and this coming from someone who cannot do eyes to save his life) is that the right eye looks a little off.

I've been watching the contest over at Wyrd and have to say that this is the best painted mini of this round. Very nice!

The only problem is that I kind of agree with Stubb, it's a beautiful job but the metals don't really come across in the photo--they look more like satin or silk to me.

I predict that you'll be the winner though! :)

I like what you have done here. I don't recognize the mini, but i do like her. I think you have done a great job with the NMM scales and the look and the dress liner. They don't come off as a bronze or gold though.. but they do look good. I can tell you are using the NMM concept.

Here nails don't look good at all though (IMHO). They look more like claws. The scroll is wonderful. I think the hair and skin could use just a bit more highlighting. The photo makes the mini look antique. I'm not sure if it is or not, but it looks old... but very good.

Excellent job.
