I believe his current total is in the low 400s. Like around 415-420. Even so, I have trouble seeing him being worth that much. That is nearly half a small army, and nearly 1/3 of a standard 1500 point army! Just the one troop I describe above is over 800 points! I just can't see ANY model being worth that much. I guess playtesting will determine whether or not he's worth 1/2 - 1/3 of your army.

And that folks, is when you want to play People of the Desert Wind and hope to god the model doesn't have Tactician, or is fielded in a troop with a Tactician.

What do people think about the Elf Archer Warlord of DOOM? In the general discussion topic, E^2 has put the cost at the low 400s. He'll have both Scrye Shot and Blazer, making him plus a cadre of archers the closest thing to artillery we'll ever need. The only problem is this is easily around 1000 points without warrior screens.

I think that against my Crypt Legion horde enemy, it might be interesting. I'm not sure I'd win against his 4:1 troop advantage, but I might be able to demoralize sufficiently him sufficiently by dropping the pie plate into his deployment zone.

I need to reread how cover applies to Volley. I'm pretty sure we don't have to worry about it because of sure shot, but I need to double check.

I think that the bottom line on this guy will be: @ > 2000 points - very useful model. @ 2000 - borderline. @ < 1,500 forget bringing him. He is, therefore, appropriate to the title. Archer WLs of Doom shouldn't be cheap.

Blazer and Scryt Shot.

Can you use Blazer and Scrye Shot at the same time? Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be amazing, and I don't think I'm against it. I'm not sure, but I don't think I am. But a model with Marksman and Critical shots couldn't use both in one combat action, right? So how could one model both Volley and Scrye at the same time?

I just hope he has #3 RA, considering that he has 3 arrows ready to fly :) THAT would be amazing! And well worth 400 points. I mean if Thorgram is close enough to worth it that you've got people on both sides of the issue, then an archer with higher RAV and 3 attacks PLUS all the goodies from Master Archer... definately amazing!

For some reason I don't think Scry Shot and Blazer can be used together either. I would have to dig out the book to say exactly why, but it was talked about before.

I'm really excited about this warlord. I can't wait until he is sniping people from across the table and it will really make me regret trading in my elves for skelly pirates.

Can Scrye shot be used on all of a models attacks?

I don't see why not. Blazer doesn't require the use of an action like Scry Shot & Critical Shot.

Scrye shot allows you to sacrifice a non-combat action to gain an additional shot. Are you thinking of a different SA?

That is Marksman. Scrye Shot allows you to sacrifice a non-combat action to gain LOS for your *last* ranged attack. I'm not sure how this works for a volley. Is the volley considered the "last attack" even if the Blazer and/or other volleyers are adding more than #RA 1 to the volley? Or can the volleyers only contribute #RA 1 each to a volley using Scrye Shot & Blazer?

I'm recalling this from memory, so I may be wrong. I think the Scrye Shot and Blazer cannot stack because Scrye Shot only gives LOS for that single, ranged attack. It doesn't really grant the shooter LOS.

I'll see if I can find where this is originally discussed so we can resurrect that thread instead of hijacking this one.

EDIT: I can't seem to find the thread, but found others similar to what I was thinking. So I don't thinkif this was discussed here. It's probably worth tossing into the Rules and Discussion section, to see if we can get it settled.

Where can one find the rules for warlord.? Is it like a DND book?

The warlord Core Rule books is where all the gameplay rules are. It's well worth the $20 books.

There are very minor additions to the rules in the faction books, such as new SAs and Spells also.

Dang, I totally missed that Scrye Shot is only good on the last attack.

Ah well. I guess the Warlord of DOOOOOM will only be able to contribute 1 attack to the volley so that he can use Scrye Shot. If you takes 10 elven archers with him, he'll still be able to do the 5" radius volley. ^_^

I'm not certain that is necessary. It could be argued that a volley is a single ranged attack which would qualify as the "final attack". #RA might just indicate the effect of the volley rather than actually being multiple attacks. (Of course it could also be argued the other way, and then I would assume that the rest of the archers would also only be able to use their "final attack" (#RA 1) in the volley led by the Scrye Shot/Blazer.) This should be clarified.

Easiest to just declare that Scrye Shot can't be used with Volley.

But the other archers aren't using Scrye Shot, so there would be no reason to limit them. It's just the Blazer that needs to use it. Because of the Blazer, all the other archers are OK to shoot both their attacks without line of site.

I agree that we do need a clarification on this though. How, if at all, does Scrye Shot interact with Volley?

I must say though that if you cannot Scry Shot a volley, even for a single attack, then I really can't see this model being worth 415+ points.

Well. . .thinking for a moment. . .a friend of a friend's brother's sister's cousin . . .let it slip. . . and . . . well. . .

first almost no one fields a Warlord below 1500 points. Sure there are a few who do, but for the most part the

Warlords don't take the field until the mandatory 1501 point limit, and from what I know of him I would take him in a heart beat at 1501. You would have to give him a little equipment, which would bring his point cost closer to 500, but you would only need to throw a few archers into his unit to have the same amount of ranged attacks.

A troop of Meridh and six warriors comes to 150 points. Throw a bunch of those in say minimum three and you've still got around 500 points to play with. Take a couple of Centaurs and maybe Arnise with some Seekers and a cleric and you've got a fairly decent army.

I'll tell you straight up that trying to beat the Crypt Legion Horde with an elf army is close to impossible, especially if he brings Aysa all pointed out. I fought the Legion in a tournament this past saturday and got stomped. My whole army was killed and I didn't even take out a third of his points. He had something like 26 Bindsouls and was bringing in 5 or 6 minions every round. You couldn't keep up with the models. I was serious out numbered.

If you ignore the minions and shoot the troops the minions will just mob your army one at a time. If you shoot the minions then it gives the Legion's warriors and breakers time to close to H2H, it's a lose-lose situation.

I have no idea about scrye shot with volley but I do know you cant scrye shot with critical shot or marksman. So, you are scry shotting with only however many RAs you have at their present RAV.

Not that 2-3 shots at RAV 3 behind cover with no penalties isnt scary, but at least its not a shot at RAV 6 (from critical shot affects) with scry shot.
