shakhak
What do you guys think about the Reptus Grunts being the equivalent of some adepts? The reptus turned into the elite fighting machines of warlord. I love it personally. A wall of Reptus warriors is something to be feared now. Shakandara
I love the flavor idea that our scaly boys are a little tougher (represented via that additional DT over most other faction's grunts). I really like that we are getting new models, and that we can now field a unit of trolls behind Uru. I'm not so pleased with our magical contingent, nor do our archers thrill me. We seem to have moved even more towards brute force builds than ever before. That does disappoint me a little (I liked the option to be flexible), but I can't complain too much, as I've been very successful with brute force builds in the past. ~v
Stubbdog
Mimicking Shakandara's feelings... I realy like the flyers, the longstrikers and even the clutchlings with their cheap first strike. Other than the flyers though, I am a little disapointed in the overall speed decrease. Between the fact that thereis no more runner with the clutchlings and the warriors have been slowed. Even Khongto lost his charge bonus he used to have. I agree that I was hoping for a little more cleric love. But, I do understand that this is just phase one, and I'm very happy they are sharing half of the new cards now rather than the old method that would have us wait another X number of months to have all the new additions later. The archers. I just dont know enough on them yet to have a good opinion. The spitters, I am kneejerking too much on at the moment and need to playtest much more before I can really comment. I am still hurting over their loss of gettig deflect/2 from cavalry. The faction SA is a little bit better now that combat tends to last longer than one activation, but still hope to see some tweaks in it. The trolls. At first, I had a really hard time with their changes. But, that was my problem. Its not the MAV6 warmaster, obviously, anyone would like that. It was that I had expectations as to what models I compared them to in the 1.2 version and who I thought they could go toe to toe with, that in the current cards I dont know that they can anymore. But, they also dont cost near as much as some of those models and so its more of a question of me getting my expectations to change based on what they are now as opposed to what I considered them to be then. The Krung Beast. I havent played with it a bunch yet, but my nitial impression is, that I really like it for the points. Uru.. love everything about it, except that he cant keep up with the trolls he is leading (no charge) - but if its a question of being able to upgrade him verses having charge, I will take the upgrades. On the warriors and such, I was told that the 360 and 3 attacks is kinda based on the idea of the fluff concerning their tails. I thought that was pretty cool idea. And it works. The rangers... if they could add another model with a higher DV with ranger then I could be happy with these rangers. But, with a low DV, and the average archer now being RAV4, I still just dont like these models. They would just be using ranger moves to walk right into RAV range to get mowed down. Give them deflect/2 (for their snake like speed) or add a higher DV model with Ranger and I would field them everytime. Nai-Khannon.. Whats not to like about him... Raam.... suicide elite. I really like him a bunch... if only I can get him into combat. Sudai...... very disapointed in his CP downgrade. Otherwise, everything else is nice. Tkay - if we are only gonna have one cleric it needs to be a level 3 cleric. But, for what she is, she has a good presence on the field. shakhak
Wow Stubb, you really lived up to your title there :P "Obssessive Over-Analyzer" I think that's a great break down of everything we've got. I do kind of agree about our Core archers getting knocked down the power tree a bit. I think what makes up for it in my eyes is our Spitters... We can easily run with 2 types of ranged models in different troops. Personally I love the snakes now. Giving them 3 attacks, warmaster, and poison strike creates some deadly Synergy. They can easily hold of weak models and it's awesome to watch the enemy lose cards right before we shuffle the deck! <3 Poison. I think our Faction Ability is still complete crap. None of my combats last longer than 2 rounds(except the hydra) and even then there are things I would rather be doing than using my move action for +2 dv... I'm hoping it sees some change soon. I'm kind of backwards from you on the Krung and Trolls though Stubb. I think the Krung is too weak compared to other things and the Trolls are grade A in my book. I hope we explore a little more of the Reptus' Clerical side. They seem so faith oriented, it just makes sense that Payanak would have some of the most devoted and tough clerics in the game. Shakandara
Well, we got 4 new "models" in this update, which still leaves us far behind the curve when it comes to the factions that got their books already. I'd expect that over the next year, we'll see a fair amount of models still coming for us. Cross your fingers for a nice heavy-duty spell caster or two along the way. ~v
Outkast Samurai
All in all I like the feel our guys have gotten. Yes our archers got down graded some but it wasn't a complete loss (even though I took archers in every build). I like the flyers but wish the Sgt. wasn't unique. Who's going to lead the second group at 2000 points? T'kay I expected to have 1 more DT to keep up with her old stats in comparision. Ssudai and the Mage Warlord seem rather dissapointing but I haven't tinkered around with them more than the Warlord getting swiss cheesed a couple of times. I just don't like the Reven getting to use our boys Uru. What happened to them just using trolls?
Stubbdog
crap, I missed that one OS. Oh well. So, the reptus have always been a rag mix of things. Just seems fitting that we are the only faction that loses our models to other factions too. Does this mean we can field the Hill Giant? [wink]

[wink] I was thinking there would be a riot once people realized this. Secretly I was hoping there would be so we could talk reaper into making Uru ours alone. Uru has been Reptus since the beginning, He has cool fluff, and stats that I don't want to share :) We should start a Uru for Reptus petition... mooseyjoe
Consider my name on the top of that list. Uru is our homeboy, not the orc's. Let one of those less scaley greenskins boss around the trolls. The Chieftan prefers the swamp. I'm liking our warriors, definitely some major butt woopage. It will be interesting to try the mage warlord, I've never run with a big wizard (Ssudai always got the job done just fine). I can't wait to give them a test run and see if the new changes can win me over.

Hexxenhammer
Holy crap! Teleport is now a 2nd level Cleric spell! T'Kay+Teleport+Hydra=Happy Hexxenhammer!
mooseyjoe
Woa. Guess what my new favorite tactic is? Yup, it's the thing that Hex just said. It sounded really slick. I could grow to like this hydra.
Sergei
Let's not forget the poison strike that the hydra has, and frenzy. It's basically the reptus version of a lawn mower.
