Stubbdog
of course with his high MD, another tactic is actually to land him in a place for him to get swarmed (again double move swarmed so not attacked) and then have a mage cast a fireball or firestorm on him, killing al around him, but he will pass the spell check more often. Kengar
Well, here's a Crypt Legion I cobbled together on my lunch hour. I know there's some CL-specific stuff I should use instead, but I don't have Necropolis book with me. See what you think: Here's how I would change it: 1000 pt Crypt Legion TROOP 1: Moandain (Warlord, 5-11/2, Mage 3/12) +LME, IP, DF, Dispel, 3xIce Shards, 2xLightning Bolt 170+195 = 355 4 Skeletal Warriors 68 3 Zombies +Musician 72+15=87 510 total I just noticed this from before. Is this "Bolt" the 20pt. Defensive Magic-capable spell, or something else?
Qwyksilver
No, that's the Nefsokar Faction book Lightning Bolt. Level 2, 50 points IIRC (don't have the book to confirm, it could be Grade 3, 75 points, but I don't think so) 12 inch range. 12" long by 1/2" wide AOE in a direction directly away from the spell caster starting at the target point (so you can effectievly hit someone 24 inches away). Any model with even a portion of the base in the AOE is hit. Unlike Blowthrough, there is no degredation along the path of damage.

(I don't have that faction book)

wildger
I guess this thread will have to start all over again given the new changes which is A LOT. All of a sudden, Naomi and Judas become more useful. Lord Gauren is now a CAPTAIN. Wow, I am very excited about the changes and I am sure the commonly seen army composition will be different from now on.
Kengar
Where's the Skeletal Breaker? And what's a "Skeletal Swordsman" v. "Skeletal Warrior"? Other than one has a worse Deflect and better MAV for the same points?
Stubbdog
Kengar, the swordsman is the model that you knew as the breaker model. Since there is no more SA: Breaker, they decided to rename the model.
Kengar
Ah, ok. BTW, JUDAS CAN FLY?!?!?
Stubbdog
Well, he is wearing a superman cape after all... lol Necros should be very happy about the new changes. Have a bunch of top of the line elites. Gauntfield, Vandrian, Dauron, etc... Not to mention that burrowing horror..
Antediluvians
Please tell me that the Undying Host Innate Spell of Aysa's is a missprint
Brushmaster
Please tell me that the Undying Host Innate Spell of Aysa's is a missprint No , it is not a misprint . Aysa has lost the inate spell . Bondsouls are gone too .
Kengar
I never played Aysa, but she was on my list to buy. Mostly b/c of innate UH. Without that, I don't know that I'd add her to my list. I've got two Mage 3/12+'s as is: Naomi from the deluxe starter box (and she's cheaper now). For Crypt Legion, I've got Moandain, which frees up an elite slot for a Nivar or some such. Stubbdog
Having a solo that is a mage is not a small thing. The ability to act independent of other troops.
Kengar
Having a solo that is a mage is not a small thing. The ability to act independent of other troops. That's a good point. Of course, like most of us, I have to balance it with real-world realities. In other words, if I only have so much time to paint and money to spend on minis, is another mage the best choice for my army v. -say- an elite like Nivar? The areas where my Thule-ians lack is more in the melee department, especially if I'm assembling a Crypt Legion (From my inventory that means no Judas, no Gauntfield, and no Elsabeth). The old Aysa's innate Undying Host would have helped that and given me a solo mage.
