FreeFall
Another fun trick with Strach... Run near base to base with a bunch of slaves. Cast stun. Watch Slaves eat stunned heavily armored soldiers for lunch. You can do this with a mage too, but with Strach it's not a suicide mission. jdripley
Another fun trick with Strach... I'm not kidding in the least when I say that I laughed out loud when I read that. That is devious! A classic Overlord trick if I've ever heard one. More twisted than the famed Teleport Ymrilix trick!
Spartan6
So I get my Overlords book finally and look over the Onyx Legion sublist (LOVE it Thane ) and place a nice order for Merack and some Phalanx's and some other goodies. I get the order, no problem, thank you Reaper peeps So I go looking for my box-o-Overlords that I've had for a couple years and painted pretty spifffily in red and bone and it's nowhere to be found. I just placed an order to replace most of it, I didn't bother re-buying Ashkrypt, but ouch. I still have the stuff I ordered last week but all my warriors and crossbowman and solos etc. are just gone. I really liked how I had them painted too. I feel stupid for losing my Overlords and I feel guilty for buying their replacements. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's ever done this? We need a Zephyr Sergeant and a crossbow sergeant. FreeFall
So I get my Overlords book finally and look over the Onyx Legion sublist (LOVE it Thane ) ... Thanks dude, glad you like it! Please tell me I'm not the only one who's ever done this? I recently lost my Ymrilix, the first Overlord I ever painted. I was crushed, devestated and seriously PO'd that someone had lifted it during the last convention! So 3 weeks later I am pulling minis out and there it is, right where it belongs, in it's spot in the case. My buddy and I went through ever case I have looking for that dang thing, and neither of us saw it. Doesn't make any sense, and no one had access to the case but us. I guess Ymrilix just needed a vacation or something and snuck out. I have since installed iron bars on his slot in my case to prevent him sneaking off again. We need a Zephyr Sergeant and a crossbow sergeant. I agree about the Crossbow Sgt., but I think Lorenth is fine as a Zephyr Sgt. Of course, I never use Crossbowmen in an all XBow unit. Overlord Crossbows are best used with other units taking advantage of Ranked, IMNSHO.

Lorenth is a great Chevalier Captain but we need another mounted leader so we can field Zephyr's and Chevaliers seperately. I nice Zephyr Sergeant maybe? I think the crossbowman work great when accompanying other units but sometimes I like to put then all in one place to mass fire or to cover more than one unit at a time. Mass fire techniques are awesome but the range of the O'lord xbows doesn't excite me. Now that we have the phalanx with lock shields and xbows with ranked the only real threat to the o'lord xbows are elves or any other model with sure shot. . .and there aren't many of those out there. grey wolf
I play Olords and the necros so I get the best of both worlds . Necros are my game winning faction but the Olords are a blast to play.
Darthiir
I played a 1000pt battle yesterday, and let's say. . .it didn't go well. I brought: Count Chevy Zephyrs x3 merak phalanx x6 crossbow x5 corvus warriors x5 standard the enemy was darkspawn with a total of 21 warriors, 2 archers, 2 sergeats and gurus (sp). the flying demon just laid waste to the phalanx and crossbowmen taking them out with two separate lightning bolts . . . and with the pain tokens gained from them my cavalry was ineffective. . .every warrior i dropped was brought back by the tokens. i was crushed. grey wolf
Is that demon that powerfull? we really don't have to many ways to deal with flying mages. Bile maybe?
Spartan6
The crossbowman never had a chance to take out the demon?
Darthiir
The crossbowman never had a chance to take out the demon? 1st activation: demon flew forward and let loose a lightning bolt taking down 3 phalanx and 2 crossbowmen. 2nd: tough checks (1 phalanx stands) phalanx and crossbows move forward to get into range and shoot at dv 14 flying demon (need 10's to hit) and all three miss. the rest of the activations are all maneuver. round 2: crossbows shoot and move (all miss and try to spread out). demon takes out most of the phalanx with his next lightning bolt. i think i had a damage merak and 1 phalanx left. the chevy misses with first strike on a warrior and the count only takes out one warrior, the rest of the zephyrs manage to take down one more warrior, but all the warriors stand back up because of pain tokens. the darkspawn then swarmed the cavalry and that was game, pretty much. we played a little more, but it was a blood bath.
