shakhak
I got a bit bored, So I created this army. I've never played a swarm army, but I think this might be a fun one to try out. I'm going to call it Razig's Lightning Raid Party: Razig 229 Skeletal Crew x8 Harpoonerx3 = 462 Black Knife Tom 63 Skeletal Crew x6 Harpoonerx3 = 246 Grim Pete 54 Skeletal Crew x7 + 100 Totem of Battle (or pile of treasure for me) Total = 992pts Models =
demonatas
Well i had to order the 2 packs of marines and 1 pack of the harpooners, other than that i picked up the lone blister of harpooners that we had at the local shop, yay! I can't wait to base and prime these lil guys
rupshall
After a few games ith 1.2, I honestly think they went to far with the soul cannon nerf. I like the addition of the gun SA, it just makes sense fluff wise and it is a good way to nerf it a little. The point increase is much to heavy, I thing they should have set it around 60 points instead of 75. I add it now because I need range support but its such a point sink now it just doesn't seem worth it. If I can find another way to build my list I think it will end up coming out. The sad thing is that one of the things that brought me into Razig was the "fluff" of the soul maiden being a 20 gun ship and being able to feld 20 cannons(not that my force is big enough). Just my 2 cents but I want to field my soul cannons :(

Just my 2 cents but I want to field my soul cannons :( Yeah I've been playing Razig pretty exclusively. I'll be fielding them again today. So far the Soul Cannon hasn't did much on anything for me. I've been missing on ranged attacks, and with it's horrible dis. it has no choice but to die in B2B Combat. I am not giving up though, I'm going to stick closely to my original lists and see if I can make use out of. After tonight, I'll write a more detailed post about my experiences with the point change. shakhak
I've played 4 games with the 1.2 changes and here are my opinions on the state of the soul cannon. 1st-3rd games the Soul Cannon was horrible. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, let alone Tomb Gaurds or Crusader Knights. I fielded two cannons in each of these 3 games. Each cannon averaged about one kill. They would tie up a model(or two) in melee. Then they would die or try to disengage and fail. So the changes seemed very very bad. Killing 25 or 0 points, holding up about 50pts for a round, they did ok, but it's not the performance i expect from a 75 point figure. My most recent was against the elves. Against this kind of army, the Cannon really shined. 10+deflect was enough to keep most ranged attacks at bay. With the elves low DV cannon shots hardly ever missed. With elven models being so cheap there was alot of blow through opportunities. It unfolded beautifully. Each cannon killed about 2-4 models, some killed archers. A 75 point cannon killing 50-110 points worth of models, is great. I'll keep playing with them, and I would assume the results are going to fall inbetween these two games. They did horrible against armies that were anti-ranged, but fantastic against an army that can be hurt by range. I imagine them doing horrible against: Crusaders Nefsokar Overlords Reptus And doing great against: Elves Dwarves Darkspawn Reven Edit: And this is an AMAZING paint job I found http://www.coolminiornot.com/index/whatm/Reaper/id/78161
Hellsgate
I just won a starter of pirates and decided to run it as a secondary army cause I love the dark maiden's sculpt (and surprise, surprise another of Chaz's master pieces), so I guess I’m now a pirate hat wearing 'izzard. The first thing that hit my mind after reading the rules was... Can I shoot Razig in the back so that he comes back fully healed (and of cause the shooter would be one of the first to be sacrificed)? Hellsgate
yep that would be my biggest problem... Now another question: Is it possible to regroup a sole soul cannon into a troop’s spare elite slot? I can actually see some use for this (other than “because I can”): -soul cannon and a second troop are going to die if they each don't go before you opponent -you get the first card -you activate the second troop and regroup the soul cannon -it would already be within command radius and can therefore shoot right away, the other troop can than attack, hopefully saving both the cannon and the troop As far as I can read there doesn't seem to be anything stopping this from happening, and though rare, it could actually be useful. So can anyone see something I’ve missed???
rcrosby
"Thats the scurvy dog wit me treasure!"-While this can give double victory points if you can kill the dog, your opponent gets to choose which model he is going to hide behind a building at the other end of the table until time runs out and you lose double his points. Yes, the Scurvy Dog rule is a pain, especially in a tournament setting. If you are playing in a friendly game, most of the time there will not be a time limit so the Scurvy Dog has no effect. I have actually played against an Elf player once that actually did the opposite you described! He ran the Scurvy Dog straight towards me, essentially wanting it killed off. He had picked a lowly sgt so the points were minimal. That way the "Hate Sustains Me" now no longer applies. That can actually suck since Razig does not have Tough and relies on that rule to stick around. I was under the impression that most tournaments do not use Bounty Points. I would think that Scurvy Dog would be irrelevant unless playing for Bounty Points???? Rich
wildbill
During the first round, the scenario involved us counting Bounty Points, so yes, the Scurvy Dog rule kicked in. The other two games it wouldn't have mattered for me anyways. I got killed to the man!! Wild Bill
seanabrady
I am a Reven player who will be grabbing models for a Razig army so I have a second faction for teaching purposes. here is what I am planning to field initially. Razig Skeleton Crew (8) Jackie Bones Baron Clarissa Zombies (6) Chain (3) Dark Maiden Soul Cannon Any thoughts? I am not a tournament player, play mostly becuase it is a fun game, and I like the models. I have never played vs. Razig though so i am not sure how well this force will do. If you want a solid razig army, drop the zombies and trade them in for Mariners. Zombies have their role, but they are not nearly as affective or fun as the Marines. Other than that it looks like a fun list. Personally I would turn baron into a Sgt, and move Clarissa with Raz and add some other models. But that's all just personal preference. I know when I bust out my razig faction it always draws some attention. Good choice.
