Reptus Discussion

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the welcome. I really hope that they keep all the books on par which is one of the nauseating factors GW has always had. I guess I have played 40K and fantasy for too many years and am a bit cynical at army specific books. The reptus are certainly an army that keeps you thinking and favors a mix of balanced troops to keep you in the game.

In the swamp one misstep means death. It only stands to reason that the best warriors are going to emerge from the shadowed fens.

Big thanks to Castlebuilder for answering all my initial questions and peaking my interest in Warlord.

Awwwww, Shucks, It was nuthin', really....... The battle with the Reptus must have been a good one, as the merc player is still talking about it. Let's see if Outkast Samurai still talks so kindly after my Crusaders finally get a chance to make suitcases out of his army!

I'm not worried, I've heard all you need is a handy dandy can opener to get to the fleshy bits inside. Crusaders are a lot like Spam then I guess. ::P:

Glad to see another swamp dweller. It's even better to see someone who also likes to use T'kay for crushing skulls instead of applying bandaids ::P:

I love TKay for the bandage abilities, but moreso lately have been using a combination of scare, hold, and bless to good results.

On a separate note, I just got some clutchlings in stock, and without opening the blister, I can see that it has a MAV 1, DV 8. Don't remember the rest, as I was just taking a quick look while unpacking.

OOOOOOh OOOOOOOh OOOOOOOOh

sounds like they will be nice and inexpensive, so I can field a ton of them. Having the numbers is never a bad thing.

I like to bandage with T'Kay, but she usually ends up busting skulls by the end of the game because she runs out of bandages. I've been experimenting with having two T'Kays, but I never seem to actually get to use both of them to their full potential. Once the melee really gets going it becomes hard to draw line of sight in order to make use of 2 clerics worth of magic. It's fun to bring both of them, but I seem to get a little better value with only 1.

EDIT: OK, I seen the clutchling card now, and they are just about perfect for my needs. A cheaper grunt, faster, and a spear unit that I don't feel to bad about sending into close combat (what the heck, so what if he gets murdalized, he's only twenty points). After Uru and the breakers, these guys could potentially become my favorite unit.

Well, It's offical, I bought the rest of my Reptus army this weekend. I'm cleaning up and mounting everyone on a base tonight> I'll try to have an army list up ASAP.

It's good to be in the swamp!!!

Good to hear that our Ranks are swelling! The swamp is teaming with life where the once was none.

I tried something new my past game, Nai-Khannon + Divine Favor + Greater Mag. Armor; He was a Furocious Unstoppable killing machine. The Avatar ran away, he mowed through several grunts, destroyed the new Nef. Cleric Warlord, and finished up his work on the Avatar; all without taking a single hit. And the mini is sweet!

Use the bandages on Uru, who you should always have LOS on. And bring a River Troll as well (soooooo cheap), so you have two targets.

I wanted to quote this because it's exactly how I get my bandages off and I find it works extremely well.

Clutchlings: cheap support for my swinging' lizards.

yes, new troops...i am glad to see the sculpts were not put to waste. excellent economy... there are new troops, then there are the fircrakers we await with held breath....

 the reptus ninja-ryu are silently waiting!

REAPER, might i make a request for new models or faction book notes.

i have no real honest clue where you guys are going with the reptus, but i have one fat favor.

--take no inspiration from GW etc.: dino riders, living artillery...unless you wantred to go prehistoric. i alnmost get an elvish/aztec/chinese ring off the fluff.

i'd be fun if they had flier cav and a howdah cavalry model, but stegadons and mumaks we have out there. pterasuars we have...

then again who am i to tell you how to do your job?

....

well, i have the guts to be a backseat driver to your face, and i have artistic taste...crisp lines, dynamic pose miniatures with expression, well thought out settings...the works.

my advice offered, again.

I've been playing Warlord for a good few months now (though my track record is disgraceful to say the lease, though it’s mainly because the dice-gods have cursed me). But I just started to post today, so here’s my opinion and feel free to tell me how wrong I am and that I should give up on tactics altogether.

I've been experimenting with having two T'Kays, but I never seem to actually get to use both of them to their full potential. Once the melee really gets going it becomes hard to draw line of sight in order to make use of 2 clerics worth of magic.
I fined it’s rare to have a fallen model with more than one enemy blocking line of sight to a nearby T’kay. For the last few hours I’ve sat down and read the entire 12 pages of this topic along with, in total, about another 10-12 pages and not once have I heared anyone suggest using the Skull Breaker’s namesake SA, breaker. So field T’Kay with some breakers, any holes you need made charge an enemy model with two breakers, two Mav 4 attacke will take down any grunt with little effort, then use your breaker move to step out of the way. Remember you only a ½ inch gap.

I also have to agree whole heartedly with this. When I think of Reptus, I think fantasy rather than prehistoric, eg. based on dragons and lizards, rather than dinosaurs.

But as far as I can see this is going to be a for all creatures of the swamp. We have a new troop, new generals have been coming thick and fast and were already started bragging about our wins, which on the topic I won the first game I had this year with an undamaged Kong-To and damaged T’Kay still standing in the end. A very prosperous year indeed.
