Reptus Discussion

Yeah... i desided to go the compleat oppusite as i normally do :upside: eg. as many cards as possable, no knong-to  , archers (4), no magic items (apart from Totem and musitions. I can see the value in archers now (2 out of 4 were in the last 3 (t'kay with them)) and i'm defantly keeping the clutchlings+musition, as i'm not giving up there 18" total charge , i may continue with no magic items (though i will inclued divine favour) and may replace Kong-to with a Nai-Khannon but i will be going back to the 2-3 card army (the big ones get too many defencive strikes other wise <_< ). So i should end up with Nai-Khannon, 2x chai-uut (or Kong-to), t'kay, warriors/skullbreaks/clutchling all in a 1/1/1 ratio and a troll or two, I'm still not decided about the totem :poke: does anyone see anything that is a complete no go in this plan?

I would say taking Nai-Khannon in such a small force, especially if you include Khong-To, puts you right back where you started, a character heavy force. Lose the hefty characters, and include more of the main stay grunts, you didn't include any Warriors in your battle against me, and besides their lacking MAV 1 (which would be compensated for with your inclusion of the totem), they are awesome grunts to base the core of your force around.

Chai-Uut + T'Kay: Bandage x 4, Hold, Familiar + 6 Warriors + 3 Breakers would be the foundation of my 1000 point army.

Audt + 2 Warriors + 6 Archers would be my second unit

Audt + 3 Clutchlings + 3 Breakers would be my third

Totem

Trolls to fill any left over points (Just off the top of my head, not sure how the points would end up).

Actually, Hellsgate, you are on a good path with your ideas. I won the Asylum tourney last week with a Reptus force that looked close to what you are entertaining.

Chai-Uut, Ssudai, 6 Clutchlings

Chai-Uut, T'Kay, 8 Warriors

Audt, 6 Breakers

Uru

River Troll

I use the stratagy to mix all three troops in a close proximity to each other while I advance along cover and fan out into a layerd wall of doom as I reach the enemy. The clutchlings and River Troll have a devistating charge ability to lock up the enemy and/or shut down their archers. If you lead with the warriors, you are painfully hard to hit with archers (DV 11 w/ deflect). Chai-Uut has bloodlust/2 and is great for taking out leaders at the first opening. (the enemy never expects a long charge of 10" and attack from your captain). In the case of Reptus, equipment is overrated and if you use their great movement well, you can have a support system unmatched by other factions. Remember: You are faster, meaner and harder to hit.

In forces over 1000 points, Archers can be added for ranged attacks, but I am likely to use more warriors and a troop of loingstrikers to capitalize on their reach benifits and their advantage of having 360 when they wade into the thick of battle. Nagendra rangers are pretty good if you play it fast and furious but only if you intend to lose them very quickly. Trolls are the Honey and nut in a Reptus army's Cheerios. They are cheap and devistating. Use them as fodder to dray all of your opponants resources and either flank them or drop a fireball in the hole left by a fallen troll( this never fails to make me cackle like an evil Warlord).

Just a little tidbit of what works for me. Hope it helps.

I'm a big fan of owning the initiative, so trolls are my best friends.

Trolls, warriors, breakers, and clutchlings, thats what makes the world go round. I really like the archers too, but I don't bring many, I always wince when I see their cost, it can get hard for them to pay for themselves.

If you are fortunate enough to have a pile of warrioir minis, then definatley consider an army based around a totem. That 11 def is mean, and when they have the totem, warriors can actually kill stuff too.

and good job fellow lizards, I noticed another reptus territory.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I have been keeping the Khazareen green for a couple months now and threw support into Sarkos and the Redstones. If I don't miss my guess, we controlled 3 provs at the end of Feb. Not bad!!

Payanak would be proud ::P:

Don't worry, Moosey. You are in good hands down there. Lord Warlord is in your prov and he is pretty good at getting wins when he can get point games in. It's the cute orcs and derned mercs that have yall swarmed down there. As far as Outkast, I think the Barthos is a frightening place to be for anyone. It seems that Barthos is the busiest prov on the map and has an ungodly number of active players (in other words, you midwest kids know how to do it!)in the area. I am really looking forward to ReaperCon so I can play against some of the legends of the game and meet a few of my fellow lizards. Keep up the good fight everyone.

Anyone know who the other active Reptus in the Khazareen are. Stubbdog posts a few wins each month, but I haven't figured out who else is kicking butt with me in my own prov?

I actually played 2 turns of a 4 player game tonight, but we had to cut it way too short to be able to claim any winner. It was my fault, as I really should never have started. I was gonna hand off my minis to another player to take over my spot, but the other guys decided to call it instead.

Oh well, I will get some play time in soon enough.

Well, one of them would be me. I've posted 2 more victories for the Reptus in the past two weeks for our province, and as soon as another member turns on their bloody profile, I can report a 3rd victory.

Crusaders taste good...

Well, then share what part of our large territory do you hail from?

I'm in Houston... ID for reports is the same as here on the message boards. And I'll be at ReaperCon. :)

Right now, I'm just trying to get as many games under my belt as possible; I'm a tabletop RPG'er, not a wargamer. Miniatures combat rules are foreign to me, so I definitely feel like I'm struggling with the rules a bit as we play. I played a demo game at the Asylum when I was up to visit it my first time about a year ago (using the dwarves that were painted by skavenbabe, who does a lot of commission work for me) and had a good time. Decided that I'd actually get involved and get my army together. Finally started having some serious intent about playing about two months ago, and picked up the rulebook. Since then, I've held a minor edge over the wargamers tha I've been playing against only because I'm >< that much more familiar with the rules than them. Keeps me a half step ahead when it comes to special abilities and gear effects, which is making up for my lack of experience in the tactical aspect of wargames.

I'll fully expect that edge to evaporate over the next month or so leading up to ReaperCon, and I think that is a good thing. It'll better prepare me for the tournament there, so that maybe I'll have some chance at avoiding a first-round quick exit. Even if I do, I hope to play pick-up games whenever the opportunity presents itself, as I've only committed myself to two of the sculpting master classes, and none of the painting classes.

Hope to see lots of other Reptus there!

J, a friend of mine and Pat's may show up at next wednesday's matchup between us. He's wanting to start a Reptus army and our game should give him a chance to see a what they can do not to mention giving me a chance to see how well my mercs play against them as well. See you next week.
