Outkast Samurai
Nice! I've been holding off getting Uru because of the pics I'd seen as well. I have always just used one of my other trolls as a stand in. Looks like time to order

drjsallison
I wasn't a big fan of the Nagendra until I got to painting them and then fell in love with them. This is a pic from reapergames.com of my painted rangers

Shakandara
Nice work, doc. I would still say I'm not convinced about the snakes yet. My quandry is that everyone says that they look so much better in-hand, but my FLGS doesn't have them in stock. The owner is a good guy and friend of mine, so he'll gladly order anything I ask for. But since I'm one of the few Warlord players (and the only Reptus faction lover, to my knowledge), if it turns out that I still don't like them, I don't want to have him stuck with 3 blisters of hard-to-move figs. Though.... ...it occurs to me that if they do the metal swap at R-Con this year, even if I don't like them, I could still buy them and just bring the blisters with me to the con and trade them in, ounce-for-ounce. Not the worst idea in the world. *sigh* Guess I may be ordering these after all... ~v P.S. Warlord battles at the FLGS this afternoon. I'll post some comments about them here later tonight. Shakandara
So, weltrath (Erick) and vutpakdi (Ron) came out to ATFS for a couple of battles last night. Ron got there first, so he and I squared off for the first battle - his Reven against my Reptus. We ran a 1000 point battle on a 4x4 surface, with a few level 1 hills and some light woods. I ended up conceeding defeat to him after about 7 rounds or so. Key points in the battle, in my opinion, were his bull orc archers taking down T'Kay early on (eliminating my ability to buff my own archers or bandage the larger models on the table) and his Warcry faction ability. Twice he used it to bring back a significant number of models that I'd just knocked down (3 out of 4 archers - the remaining then made his tough roll *rolls eyes* - and 3 front line combatants). A series of poor rolls plagued me from that point (needing only 4's and 5's or better for hits and getting 2's and 3's), and the battle quickly turned in his favor. Both my Uru and my standard river troll went down shortly after that, and the Chai-uuts followed quickly after. Very bloody, very ugly loss. A great learning experience, however. (remember: experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted) ;) Second battle was between Ron and Erick. They used the identical battlefield, terrain, and force size. Due to time constraints for Ron, they played a timed battle (~1 hr). Ron again fielded his Reven, and Erick brought a Free Company (rather than his usual pure Merc force). They played to a draw; both forces were giving as well as they were getting. Erick and I squared off for a quick game after having some dinner. We decided to toy with the scenario a little, so we used the following strictures on the forces: 750 point, must use a warlord, and a max of 15 models. We kept the 4'x4' table, but replaced some of the terrain; the goal was quick and bloody. Erick fielded everything in a single troop, pure Merc (Orba, Leisynn, and a bunch of lupine ragers). I optioned for two troops with a river troll, and the Khonger leading 8 warriors, 2 archers, and T'Kay. Initiative favored me, with his troop advancing into range of my archers in the first turn. Shots damaged two, and then I quickly closed the field. I kept the troll on the flank, and brought the warriors straight into his force. Once the forces were in the dance, Leisynn dropped a firestorm on us all, and a whole bunch of minis went down. I got a lot of good tough rolls tho, and brought several warriors back into the fight. I was able to eliminate several of the models on the line to open a hole, and Khong plowed on through to take out Leisynn; three swings and first strike stopped the mage from wrecking more havoc. The troll hit the flank, breaking the last rager on the line. Orba engaged Khong, and they traded damage tracks. The troll came over to add some support, and Orba was dead shortly after. The battle lasted a total of 3 rounds. Was quick and fun; forcing both of us to use a warlord made it interesting. ~v
Shakandara
Well, I bit the bullet again, and finally bought all the snake-boys for our faction. Yes, everyone is correct in that they do look better in the hand than they do on the Reaper site. I'd even go so far as to say that I think Ssathus and one of the rangers (with both kukri held above his head) are pretty damn cool. The other two rangers are "ok". However, I don't think I will ever learn to love Ssudai, even after he is painted. C'est la vie. On the other hand, I think I found a line of models that I will proxy the snake-boys with when I'm in non-tournament play. Check out these bad boys (look at the "Ophidians" section), and try not to drool all over your keyboards... http://www.rackham-store.com/index_us.htm You can bet that the Vortiran will find a home in my force. ;) Finally, weltrath and I met out at ATFS for a couple more battles last night. He received quite a shock when I laid down a Crusader army for our first battle... since my Reptus are now all out being painted, I have nothing legal-based to run for my little leezards until some of the models come back. Either he is getting better, or my aggressive style with the Reptus is harder on him than with the Crusaders. Both battles where I was running Crusaders were very close, much closer than any of our Merc/Reptus clashes (with the exception of that one a few weeks ago that came down to the last model for each side). ~v
Hellsgate
In regards to the snakes i agree they are nice models. Infact, armour wise, this is how i had pictured the snakes to be.

Shakandara
Finally! Some of my little blue-and-orange leezards have come home to roost. Here's a few quick pics of the Clutchlings and Archers... Booyah! ~v
shakhak
Finally! Some of my little blue-and-orange leezards have come home to roost. Here's a few quick pics of the Clutchlings and Archers...~v Nice, I like it. I love it when a miniture doesn't fit the mold and Blue/Orange lizards are right up my alley. Awesome work. I'm wraping my Clutchlings up tonight or tomorrow, hopefully I can Snap a picture and get them one here. They also have a different kind of color scheme going for them. Sergei
My Lizaaards are tan with RED armor. I'll try to get a camara or you can come to the SIEGE battle in Mansfeild this weekend, where I'm sure they'll dominate, to see them.
Shakandara
Thanks; like I've said before, I don't paint my own figs (gave up on that years ago), but I'm really good at finding talented artists willing to piant stuff for me. In addition to my blue Reptus, my trolls are a more traditional green (though each is a slightly different shade of it), my Krung is more a dark grey color, and my Nagendra are all patterned after real-world snakes. As soon as some more of them come home (probably later in the week), I'll get some pics up of them too. I wanna see everyone else's Reptus too! Photo those bad boys and post 'em! ~v
Hellsgate
My camera is stuffed up and it seems that you can’t scan one on a flat bed scanner So unless I can bug some one at the club the best I can offer you is a description… the armour is a chestnut brown with metallic green trims, while the model its self is a traditional green, with purple dry brush running form the top of the head to about two thirds of the way down the tail of the model but i will see if i could bug some one at the club
Sivrel
The color scheme sounds cool but I suppose I can sympathise with why we are stuck with that and only that.
